@@vernonfrance2974 absolute nonsense, how does Frankel not tire out then like the other horses, surely if there is a pacesetter Frankel will need to keep up with the pace to stay in the race, and if all the other horses tire out and Frankel keeps on going then that indicates he is a superior horse, you've just explained exactly why he was so elite. Think about it next time.

Frankel was champion 2, 3 & 4 year old. His 2000 Guinneas run was spetacular. His first 5 furlongs were the same as the sprinters, and yet he saw the mile out. NO horse, not even Frankel can run a mile at a flat out pace, they would normally sit in behind, then make their move. At 3 years he was taking on older horses, who were stronger and more matured. IMO it will be a long time before we see another like him.

He was coddled and never faced older horses who were able to run a mile and a quarter or beyond. Secretariat did and by the time he was fully mature, in his three year old campaign, he beat the best not only on dirt but on turf. Flightline never set any track or world records, unlike Secretariat.
