Goodness I had no idea he had died. Shocked. I first saw him playing for Birmingham City in 1971 against Hull City, he was only 16 yrs old & a star in the making.

Although that Birmingham City strip is clearly a cobbled together mish mash of home and away kits, it still looks ace. These uploads are bloody ace. KZfaq at its very best is this!

agree with the comments about the Birmingham kit, It does look decent. As an aside the Arsenal dug outs are very unusual, almost look like shower cubicles!

I think it was the reverse fixture that Year that was Birmingham City 3 Arsenal 3 Trevor Francis (RIP) scored a hat trick for Birmingham and Malcolm MacDonald scored a hat trick for Arsenal. Mid week game and unforgettable.

Alf won the title with Spurs (as a player) then managed ipswich to the title and then england to the world cup. It's quite possible (likely even) that we'll never see any of those things happen again in our lifetimes.....which put's ramsey's achievements in a even better perspective.

Agreed we're unlikely to see an Englishman do that but Didier Deschamps won ligue 1 with Marseille as a player & manager and won the world cup as a player & manager

Trevor Francis was class, wasn't he? I always enjoyed Brian Moore's dry commentary describing an overhit shot "endangering the lives of spectators"

The late,great Trevor Francis. Even he recognized that no player was worth £1,000,000 . Transfer fees have been stupid ever since.

Birmingham were robbed of a win. Had a perfectly good goal chalked-off. Ball hits inside of the post & continues its forward line of trajectory across the line, when it’s finally cleared by Jennings it’s clearly over the line. Arsenal’s goal was from a dodgy free-kick decision. If the ref gave similar decisions against Arsenal Brian Moore would’ve been apoplectic with rage. Good to see Sir Alf put Moore in his place too.

I went to this game as a blues fan. Kro. Note only one sub. John Connolly. Francis was a god. Keith Birchin was on off but hibbit was a great player. Ohhh and Jim Montgomery in goal the old hero from Sunderland. Some memories
