The Steelers will have a top 3 defense and no worse than a top15 offense. The defense has pro bowlers on all 3 levels. The offense will have a very good o-line after the middle of the season when it is needed most, a legit QB with Wilson starting the entire season, two very good RB's, very good TE's, and Pickens is already a star WR. Someone will have to step up as WR2 and I think it will be Roman Wilson. This is the most talent the Steelers have had in at least 8 years. This team is a serious contender this season!

The Ravens have a comparable TE & WR & a way better QB than Russ who can no longer scramble to where he can see the field when the players in front of him block his view. Payton bent over backwards to design the offense around this & even after losing the weight, because he now gets into a panic when he has to scramble unexpectedly, he kept chucking the ball to the check-down behind the line of scrimmage Payton was forced to put in there. *_All_* the other teams have better receiving corps except the Chargers, Patriots & maybe Panthers. _How_ is this a top-15 offense?

@@choosecarefully408 Peyton didn't design an offense for Russ! The Steelers will by the middle of the season have a topnotch o-line with the best running back combo in the NFL. Roman Wilson will be a solid WR2, and Pickens is about to go for 1400 plus yards. Russ will be very good in Smith's offense.

All the Steelers need to do to be Superbowl contenders is play well on offense. The defense speaks for itself. If Russ or Justin plays at a high level we will be contending for the Superbowl.

Mason isn’t a qb1… he played solid but we were so used to watching the absolutely dumpster fire that Kenny and Mitch showed us any upgrade would’ve felt insane

I'm a grinder....I like the trio of Najee Harris, Russell Wilson, and Pat Freiermuth along with a top 5 defense. Steelers football is punishing football. Last man standing wins, and I like Patrick Queen, Minkah Fitzpatirck , and TJ Watt on my side

OK.....I love when RATBIRD fans talk shit considering the fact that Lamar Junkson hasn't won a game against the Steelers since week 3 of 2019! DeShawn Whatshisface has NEVER won a game against the Steelers and the Cincinnati Bungholes lost too much talent to do anything. We went 5-1 in the division last year with the leagues worst QB room and finished 10-7 solely because of the defense! So you naysayers can talk all you want , but when push comes to shove the Steelers WILL be in contention for the division title.

So you forgot about 2 players that will impact their season. Darnell Washington, I think Smith is going to use Muth in the slot meaning Darnell is going to be the TE on passing downs most of the time. Also he is very athletic for his size and acts as a 6 offensive lineman. You also forgot about Nick Herbig, he has been FANTASTIC in the offseason and is a REALLY good third edge rusher. He replaces TJ or Highsmith for a series and the opposing oline can’t take a break. Also getting rid of Levi Wallace was the best thing the Steelers could’ve done with him.

@@litobrigante1413 Doubtful. Not saying Mason is anything above average at best but he was at least competent. Fields has tons of upside and is a great athlete but he isn't consistently accurate and has questionable ability to read a defense. Mason is simply more trustworthy throwing the ball then Fields at this point in their careers.

Fields has upside and potential. I’d check Mason in the playoffs instead of his end of season run. He’s not that different from when he struggled to beat out Duck and why we felt we had to sign Mitch and draft Kenny in the first place. He had a nice end season run for a few games in advantageous circumstances but there is no upside and he is not a long term solution. He signed with Tennessee to be Will Levis’ backup cuz he’s better than Malik Willis…so let’s not act like he went to be a franchise guy somewhere. Besides, Russ IS an upgrade to Mason even playing as “poorly” as he did last year in Denver.

Doesn’t compare. Skill sets are different. Fields is the better athlete and has a better arm and can run RPO if asked. Rudolf is another Ryan Tannehill. At least Tannehill could take off. Rudolf can’t run.

This Steelers team will be lucky to win 7 games. Vegas odds makers have them as the underdog in 12 of their 17 games. Brutal schedule and playing in the best division in football doesn't help. Joe Burrow is back and if he stays healthy they will battle the Ravens for the division. I see Cincinnati taking it this year with the Ravens and Browns finishing with winning records and making the playoffs. This will most likely be the year Mike Tomlin has his first losing season. Good defense but Russell Wilson and Justin Fields aren't going to make a difference.

Some strong Kool-Aid here. Wilson and Fields have done zip in the NFL lately. I'm much rather have Tua. Running/Defense teams got rocked in the playoffs last year. Can you compete with Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow, Josh Allen and the great Patrick Mahomes? Don't bet real money. Enjoy your purple drank.

I'm not sold on Russ being washed up. Just because Sean Payton was an idiot the way he used Russ doesn't mean he's washed. Let's be honest, if Russ is consistent and keeps opposing defenses of the field while scoring an average of 21 to 28 points per game that puts us so much higher than what Kenny Pickett, Mitch Trushitsky, and Mason did and that could seriously put us in contention.

The last time I can remember it being even close to working was way back when Kordell Stewart first came into Pittsburgh and even then it was touch and go weather it was going to work or not.
