Right! The ref needed to stamp his authority on this game from the beginning. It was clear from the beginning that the Germans were out to physically intimidate the Spanish, even to the point of physically injuring players - Pedri, for example. The Germans were very dirty. Had the referee given Toni Kroos the red card he deserved for his brutal assault on Pedri, things would have calmed down and this would have been a much better regulated game.

It was simply unlucky for Germany that the two best teams in the tournament had to meet so early. One had to lose, and Germany was better overall. Why did De La Fuente take Lamine and Nico after going 1-0 up when you know now the Germans will push numbers forward so you will have room to destroy them on the counter. That he did not get the yellow for such an obvious foul was just the ref taking the piss. Like sure he was at the ball first then hit the player, but he still fouled from a position where the other player had no way to react, making it a prime example of "creating a dangerous situation" The german commentators even criticised Kroos and the ref for that action of minute 7 all the way to minute 119. But overall the match was super hands on from the first second. Never have i seen a match where players literally elbow each other when standing in a line waiting for the free kick. Or players being pushed to the ground while waiting for the match to resume. Absolutely 100% agression from both sides. The moment pedri got injured, spain was in a tough position. Spanish strenght isnt individual talent, it is teamplay and tactics, pedri is a midfield beast and he is key to play the typical spanish attack. Thats the reason of the changes in the 2nd half, when he got injured, manager didnt have time to get a new tactic and spain was offensively inconsistent. We have seen a defensive match from Spain, not our typical dominance style, that is because it cannot be done without him. I know spanish team is strong enough to face upcoming matches, but we just cannot play the same anymore, de la Fuente is smart and I trust him to get a solution, I know he had already a plan on how to play without him, he experimented multiple tactics before so he doesnt have to rely the team in a specific player, thats why our lineup against albania worked

The most decisive factor in the game was Kroos sending Pedri off after 5 minutes without even being booked, and then stomping Yamal's foot 2 minutes later for a second forgiven yellow card. Kroos did merits for 4 yellows through the match and injured a key player for Spain very early. That was more decisive than anything. And regarding Cucurella's hand, there was an offside 5 seconds before, plus he was pulling his hand back, in a downwards position.
@zenmonk5403
@zenmonk5403 Ай бұрын
The guy replacing Pedri scored the 1 - 0 and assisted the 2 - 1. If that foul was decisive, it was decisive against Germany. Füllkrug was not offside. Ref communicated that he saw the handball and decided it was no pen. They didn't breath a word about offside. Downwards position of the arm has no bearing on if it was natural or not. It was significantly away from his body, thus extending his body frame, and most importantly, denying a clear shot on target. No field player hand should ever be allowed to block a shot on target.

The Offside is already been checked multiple times. It wasn't offside. Yes the Referee was to slow with the yellow cards allowing Kroos to keep on playing aggressive. But none of his fouls was worth a red card. And if this fragile wimp would not have been send off, your MVP Olmo would have never found its way into the Game like he did. Spanish time play, was also not called out and there were serveral emergency fouls in overtime, of which one was worth a red card also. So stop whining and show character and be a great winner. Stop gaslighting away from the penalty with Kroos fouls, it won't work and make you look stupid.

@@zenmonk5403 UEFA said that a defender in a standing position when the ball hits their arm at or close to their side, in position vertically, and/or with the arm behind the line of the body, it should not be punished. That Cucurella was bringing his arm in is a factor, as that's deemed to be removing a possible barrier (though you could be deemed to be doing that in a deliberate handball action.). If that was no penalty, what else is a penalty? Cucurella stopped Musiala's shot with the hand. The shot was aiming at the right top corner and Unai Simon would have had to make a great save, while it is unclear, if he would have saved this hard shot. The position of Cucurella's left arm was also not folded to the body, in contrast to his right arm. I always thought that only goalkeepers are allowed to use their hands and arms while playing football, but now I've learned that Cucurella is something like Spain's second goalkeeper, who makes great saves if necessary.
