Alonso wasn't coaching on a top level or at all before Leverkusen. A number of factors have to align for a new coach to be successful. I don't even know any big name player in Leverkusen. So don't write off a coach because he hasn't coached on top level

If Chelsea get the same amount of injuries as last season, the squad is still good enough to get top four because the manager is better than Poch and suits the team much better stylistically. If Chelsea keep more key players healthy, they can close the point gap on first and second. Saying that we’ll challenge for the title is a little bit far fetched, but saying we’ll close the point gap by a lot is not ridiculous at all

Thank God England is in the final for the Euro, if they don't win then maybe these guys will learn a lesson. They are so stuck on how things are traditionally done because it keeps them relevant. Maresca will have his opportunity to play his style in the PL, he was given a long contract for a reason, Chelsea has a project, repeat project, an enterprise that is carefully planned to achieve a particular aim, ie win championships, but not instant success some seem to unrealistically expect. Let the fans moan and groan now or even next season's beginning as the new system is employed, but by seasons end Chelsea will qualify for UEFA and will have the money to go after the big names where needed and also have it's young super star gunners like Estaveo and Piaz coming into that mix. I expect to see the project success come to fruition at the end of Maresca's second season and definitely in his third but also make the top four every season including the one coming up..
