Beulah, my husband and I followed you every step of the way from Georgia to Maine, and I loved this beautiful documentary. I’m so glad you’ve made a fresh start! And I’m still so disgusted that your ex poisoned your triumphant finish to the trail. As you hinted, I have to believe that your intuition told you something was wrong, and that’s part of why you felt so sad after NY. Anyway, I wish you the very best out of life! If you ever want to try the Allegheny Trail in WV, my husband Stormy Weather (Jim) and I would be happy to shuttle you and provide a serene spot for zero days. Please don’t be a stranger to KZfaq! You have brought joy to so many people through your videos. I’m rooting for you!

For almost 2,200 miles, you had your sights on Katahdin. After all the struggles and triumphs, you reached Baxter State Park. After your world fell apart, you went to Mama K. As you touched the sign, Mama K provided the setting where you rose as a queen. No one can ever take that away from you. Beautiful documentary. We love and support you. #ATStrong

Exactly… How incredibly self-serving and selfish to take away from the climatic end of a triumphant journey. That shows me what a selfish person this man is. And your videos are so raw and honest, I just know that you are the sweetest, kindest human being, and you certainly did not deserve that. I have a few choice words that I would like to use, but I’m not going to… Because we’re not gonna add his fame. But choosing that day, that moment… Selfish, narcissistic, and just plain mean. And those people that you’ve lost… Well, I guess they may have done you a favor. Because someone like you does not need people like that in their life. OK girl! Where to now?

I think you were less than a week into your hike when I found your videos. I was sad for you each time you found yourself hiking alone, worried about the rain in New England, and cried when you summited. You grabbed my heart like you have many people that you never will know. You have done something many people will never do. That kind of positive energy is too powerful for weak men.

Great film BadBats, you caught the essence of what doing something extraordinary actually means to the person doing it. I watched your videos late, well after you finished, in blocks. I saw the change in you, the maturity develop, the ability to cope with whatever life threw at you come to the surface. I know it was hard for you, but losing trail friends and yet carrying on and finding new people to connect to is an invaluable life lesson. One that will hold you in good stead now. I can't help but feel that the whole of your journey was actually preparing you for the betrayal. You have something now that is entirely yours, something to build on. The kind and helpful people on trail plus your followers on here wish you the best, weigh that up against the actions of one jealous person who acted selfishly.

What a fantastic documentary! You were my absolute favorite hiker last year, and I watched every episode from the very beginning. I laughed and cried with you and never had a moment's doubt that you would make it, even in an atrocious weather year. I was stunned, STUNNED, by the events at the end. I can't imagine what you have been through. But you are so strong, and nothing can take away your accomplishment and your pure joy. Best of luck to you. Please let us know your next adventure. That was an absolutely beautiful documentary. I watched your whole AT journey as it was happening, having no idea what you were going through, although as I watched your two attempts to climb Kathadin, I felt that something was wrong. I have been through the kind of heartbreak you experienced, and I know, as you do too, that life is stronger than betrayal. You have a bright, bright future.

I hated what he did to you and thought how dare he tried to steal your victory. But you proved him wrong and the people that betrayed you. You are a true champion and I’ve said this on some of your previous videos, and I mean this, you are a true champion and a wonderful human being. You have a KZfaq trail family standing by your side. I love your documentary! I love the beginning, the middle and the end. You did something that so many would not want to do. At the end, all I can say, being older, is that getting rid of a loser who tells you what's up when you are at your most challenging part of the AT is better than spending years with him. He will end up miserable and making the people around him miserable. I would say to you, countinue to travel. I am not a thru hiker but I did hike the last 100 miles of the Camino de Santiago, in Spain I met so many people from everywhere. It was an amazing adventure. I wish for you many more adventures on whatever trail you choose.

Beulah, a wonderful documentary! I truly wonder how many folks you inspired to hike the AT or do any thru hike for that matter…? I have to say something and please know I don’t know how YOU feel, only you know that, but please may I offer some hard learned advice? I too know a thing or two about that gut wrenching pain. The kind where the world suddenly shifts, tilts on its axis. You rack your brain trying to figure out what you did wrong, signs you missed, etc. Then you realize, although there is always room for improvement - that betrayal…? That is a BIG soul issue in them and there isn’t a THING you could have done to stop it. I can promise you that is something only God can heal in them. Bc ultimately that is a heart issue you had nothing to do with. Now - it may take some time - but do me a favor. Don’t become bitter. Look for the blessings in what has changed - focus and think on the good. When you start to hurt or feel pain - allow it, and then do like Christ said and take your thoughts captive. You can’t control what pops in your head, but you can control whether you mull it over or change your minds direction. It will get better over time, and yeah, you may have hiccups too. But set your jaw like flint, do not let the evil and the pain win. Do not. And although it seems cruel, and totally unfair - be patient. Stay kind, stay happy - you for sure have some battle scars now, but you are so dang much tougher than you ever knew. You completed the AT! That takes some grit girl! When it rained, when your body hurt, when you puked your guts out in a hotel. You got up and you kept going. Why? Because THAT is who you are! You are an amazing athlete, person, friend, woman. What people do to us does NOT define us. How we scrape ourselves off the ground and how we decide to treat others does. Be the change you wish to see in the world. And remember darkness doesn’t like the light. And you my friend…well you are of the light! Love and prayers - so so proud of you. And P.S. you are one seriously bad bat!!!!❤

BadBat!! This was a professional quality cinematic masterpiece! I was expecting just a compilation of the daily vlogs, but you turned this thing into a beautiful piece of art. My heart was heavy the closer you got to Katahdin, knowing what was coming. You showed incredible restraint and composure in the summit day video - I think I would have pushed him off the mountain. But it seems like making this documentary really helped you reclaim your story and process your achievement, and I'm so happy for that. Remember these promises: "When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up." Psalm 27:10 "God setteth the solitary in families...." Psalm 68:6a We're your KZfaq family and are happy to support you in whatever ways we can. And I'm so glad you're getting back out there doing trail magic and rediscovering community on the AT. Prayers & best wishes, Bad Bat!

Pig Pen, Vegas and Globetrotter all returned to the internet in Pat Townsend's thru-hike videos, of course Pig Pen had her own vlog. Vegas even posted in the "announcement" thought he might have shown up for this chat. Always loved the scene w/BB and Pigpen twirling their trekking poles. Kind of amazed she caught up with Fresh Grounds six times, and all the times thru-hikers showed up in each other's videos. Gabby, Pig-pen, Taylor traded episodes and I think North Star summitted the day after BB although not mentioned.

Great film! As I’ve grown older I’ve come to understand that the key to happiness and fulfillment in this long, weird trip we’re each on-together and alone-is weaving and savoring a tapestry of hope, moments, and memories. This film reflects a beautiful part of yours, and I’m sure you’ll return to its living subject often for joy, resilience, and understanding. A job very well done, and a dream truly fulfilled. You are absolutely amazing, Beulah…what a beautiful and skillfully made film. Watching this in 1.5 hours brought back memories of watching you hike day by day last year. It was always a joy to share your positive view of this journey. Even in those darkest days before you and Irish began hiking together, there was no doubt that you would reach Mount K! You are a special young woman, made for much more than what you had before this experience. I look forward to following your future adventures. As it turns out, I see that you have actually moved to my hometown…yay for us! Since childhood, I have enjoyed plays through our community theatre, and I am delighted that you will share your talent with this special part of the state. What a delight it will be for this white haired educator to run into you on our streets sometime. Welcome, welcome!

Watching your documentary took me back to the trail .... Little did I know the ending would take me back to such a similar place/ feeling. While on trail stuck in Hot Springs in 2018 healing from an injury, I found my husband of 17 years was cheating(and had been for quite some time). This eventually took me off trail to sort my and our three children's lives. I too lost many friends and a feeling of belonging in my neighborhood, a town we had also built our home and set down roots. I share all this because I feel it is important to know we are never alone and that we are often more seen than we could fathom. I also share to give you peace in a deep knowing that there ARE no accidents. You were on trail to deepen your self love, resilience, passion for life, determination, confidence and resolve. Some people cannot hold our power. They cannot shrink their ego to handle our capacity to do big things while they are small. Still, we get to rise and be who we were intended to be, drawing those near to us who understand our spirit. I will also share that the past 6 years have been the most beautiful years of my life- traveling, healing, growing as and individual, being an example to others. YOU walked a path for 2200 miles that breaks many. It is a testament to your power and proof of the beauty that is to come in your one, amazing life. I send you so much love and so much light. YOU ARE WORTHY of ALL your heart can imagine and wish for. Like the Roller Coaster in VA.....life has so many ups and downs. The one thing we know is that if we hang on during the downs, life will surly take us back up. Best wishes, only always.

I'm not very good with words, Bad Bat, but this documentary was so well done, and it made me cry. The ending was indeed bittersweet. It's as if you sensed what was coming when you felt depressed in New Hampshire, but your spirit continued to shine, and you never gave up your determination and your positive, can-do attitude. I cried watching you summit. I also felt so angry at him on your behalf. I thought to myself, how could he do this to you on what should have been one of the happiest days of your life? I am so sorry this happened to you. BUT you accomplished something few ever do: You are a thru-hiker, and your life going forward will be filled with many blessings, I just know it. You are such a great person and have so much to offer the world. God bless you and Happy Trails!

You made me laugh all over again with your insane sense of humor, reminding me of the first times that I saw these scenes. You made me cry at points when you thought that you couldn't go on. Such an emotional but triumphant part of your life. Bad Bat, you are a thru hiker. You did your time, you overcame adversity and the pretty smile I witnessed from Georgia to Maine constantly showed that you never gave up. Through all the adversity, you stayed the course. The four tops sang a song "reach out I'll be there". Change that to "We will be there" . Bad Bat , we are loyal followers all the way. Looking forward for your next video. God bless you 🙏

A great story well told, your tragedy at the end is also your freedom. You stood alone on Katahdin, your story told, your accomplishment by you. Well done and whilst the pain is real, your strength is now greater. Lots of love from a dumb old Aussie who hopes that everything good in this world you deserve, you get.

WOW! I have no words after that. I am truly sorry the end was so hard for you. You are a true leader. I can see you always leading others after you have had to deal with so much. People will respect you for your strength to overcome! I enjoyed watching your AT journey. It was better than most we see. The trail gives you what you need......I am David Christian 3rd, I would be lucky to be your friend on facebook. You go girl!

I am so sorry that you had to go through such a horrible time at such a beautiful time. I really enjoyed watching your journey last year. This documentary brought a whole new meaning to your AT thru hike. Thank you for sharing such a personal journey, hope this helps in your healing process. I am planning on hiking the AT in 2025, and I'll be bringing the tradition of "border booze", along with my thru hike attempt. You have been very inspirational for me.

What a great documentary. You proved your strength out there on the trail, and he proved his weakness. You need him like a moose needs a hatrack. I am so sorry for your pain, but the day will come when you realize this was the best thing that ever happened to you. If that is who he is, it is good you know now so you can find someone deserving of you. What a small, small man he is. What a powerful woman you are.

Strong young lady and many would have quit when faced what you endured !! Your Smile and Never Quit Attitude was Gold !! Words can never express what you experienced but you showed courage to take it on and survive. Your path is clear now..Enjoy IT !! We Loved You ! Best Documentary I've seen in years .

BAAAAAAD BAAAAAAATTT! Oh my gosh, we missed you so much!!! I hope you got all my post-trail happy holiday messages: Happy Halloween, Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, etc. I was not about to lose touch even if you were no longer posting. I wanted you to know that wherever life was taking you, your digital tramily cared about you. I've thought about you so much over the months, too ("I wonder what BadBat is doing right now?") Not kidding! You are so loved. It was an honor to "hike" with you on KZfaq. Love going back down Memory Lane in your documentary. Ok, I better get back to watching it. I dove right into the video but then I just HAD to stop at the half way point and say, "Hey!" 👋 I'll hop back on to this reply when I'm done. Once again you have lifted my spirits. Thank you, Double-B! 🦇💚🥾🥾💚SOCIAL!!!! 🤣🥃 Woo-Hoo! 🌲🌲🌲 PART 2: Oh my gosh, Bad Bat. I watched the 2nd half and the last segment was extraordinary. Thank you, SO MUCH, for taking your MOMENT & POWER BACK. When I followed you during the original hike, I was SO ANGRY at what "he-who-shall-not-be-named" had done to you that I wanted to jump through the camera and hunt him down. I was SOUL-CRUSHED FOR YOU. It was so painful to watch knowing what was happening that I can't even imagine how it felt. HORRIFIC is the word that comes to mind. I was very worried all through the months afterwards, too. Where will she go? What will she do? Is she okay? How can we help? So, to see you rise like a Phoenix from the ashes to create YOUR REAL ending to the AT was like the Balm of Gilead. I loved it. Love, Love, LOVED it. YOURS is the real story. And, your song was fantastic!!! I'm serious, it was so COOL. I was just grinning & crying & grinning & crying... You DID it BadBat. You conquered the trail and the mountain and without the AT, who knows what would have happened? By, the 2200nd mile, you had become a WARRIOR. A dyed-in-the-wool, BONAFIDE WARRIOR. And, no sick-a** disease of a failed man was gonna bring you down. I am deeply sorry for your losses, it's true. They are terrible losses. Terrible. But, now here you stand as a beacon for the rest of us. Those of us struggling with mental health (me), and all who suffer in a myriad of ways in this world. Now, when people ask me who my idol is, I can say unequivocally, "Well, that's easy... BadBat!" And, I ain't lying. I feared we'd never see you again after the AT and here you are... Brilliant. Upbeat. Positive. Accomplished. The documentary was UH-MAZE-ING. Really, really good. Such a treat for those of us who followed you on the og AT. I esp. loved the montage at the end of your feet walking on the different trail surfaces. That was BRILLIANT. So proud of you. SO, SO PROUD! BadBat in the HOWWWWZZZ! We love you! 💚🌲🦇🥾🦯⬆️

Don't look at it as loss. You grew in a different direction. Some people are secure enough to love and follow you but some are afraid to move and have to be left behind. I enjoyed sharing your journey and feeling your positivity. You are the destination that some lucky person is going to stumble upon. That person will love the person you have become.

You are a brave soul! I have nothing but admiration and respect for you. I hope one day I have the courage and determination you had during your AT hike, to be able to attempt and complete my through hike of the AT that I keep dreaming about. Sending love ❤

I am absolutely speechless. You Should be so proud of yourself. Obviously from your completion of AT but this inspiring beautiful documentary. You convinced me last year to stop waiting for someone to hike with me and just start. Now I am officially a section hiker because of YOU! You are stronger and more powerful than you give yourself credit for. You are a force all your own. NO ONE CAN EVER TAKE THAT AWAY FROM YOU. Be well and hope to have the pleasure of hiking along side you.❤Kim

There I was on Instagram and saw my favorite AT hiker! The one I always watched on KZfaq! I ran right over to watch this! You had become part of my every day and I was so bummed for you and all of us how 2023 ended! I am so pleased that the tough-stuff in you has prevailed and we have you back!!! You are so insightful, smart and talented. I was hoping you were announcing you were hiking again 😆 I hope you landed in New England with kind, smart and interesting people surrounding you. I’m glad you are now realizing how strong and cool you are. You outgrew your old life- keep going- there is a better man out there waiting for you. Enjoy the journey!!!

Well done! What a roller coaster of emotions on the last day. I feel for you. The absolute worst timing and horrible communication someone could do. But to know you can walk 2200 miles is empowering, and that probably scared his selfish ego. Onward to better things! Proud of you and thankful for you sharing your journey.

Very moving, also sad, but powerful! I watched all the ads just for you...hope it helps! Mostly I hope making this film was therapeutic. Glad you didn't let him or her off the hook at the end. Those of us who watched you through your hike remember him, and this is his public legacy. Now keep the adventure going! Hang in there! Hope you make it to Europe (again?) someday. My favorite line from you in the film (perhaps paraphrased) was: "We're doing it! We're doing it though! We're doing it!" Keep doing it!
