(I play on console ps4 and have been playing since the beginning of year 3 right when black prior came out and the wu lin were in the game) Hey can anyone explain why black prior is so op? I see him played a lot and I have him at rep 12 (rep 95 in total) he’s strong I don’t doubt that but I just don’t see how he is so hated/op. His foward bash and neutral bash are both incredibly reactable his lights are too slow to be reliably used as a starter. Superior guard is nice but it’s not broken. His bulwark stance to flip has a slower start up time than aramushas full guard quick thing and it was nerfed. You can be bashed out of the flip as well if the opponent times it right. His unblockable is easy to predict if you focus you can see the moment right before they either let it fly or cancel it. His undodgeable heavy finishers are only good against assassins kensais and conqs and anyone who dodges on prediction. His start heavy softfeint into bash light is good but it consumes a ton of stamina and I don’t see it being worth it unless your finishing a fight or closing distance. He is extremely strong in anti ganks with his wide sweeping unblockable and undodgeables and bulwark counter. I know that but in 1v1s/ anti ganks and end up doing better with warlord how I have at rep 5 and is strong but his kit is lacking. Someone please explain why he is so hated and overused.

His bash after light mixup and bash from neutral mixup are difficult to deal with since his bash is unpunishable if you dont have a dodge attack, thats all i can really think of

Its the fact that in the face of just about anybody he can get 35 damage punishes. You can punish chain bashes like wardens, conqs, cents, lawbringers, other bps, shugokis, nobushis, tiandis, and shaolins. His bulwark is also a pseudo option select for attacks that have the same timing, like raiders stunning tap (I refuse to call it storming tap), berserker chain heavies, gladiator chain lights, valk leg sweep, Jiang jun feint into kick and his dodge attacks, tiandi dodge attacks, and zhanhu dodge attacks. The fact that he can pull an unblockable from basically neutral is op as well because it can force a reaction if not read well. His undodgable heavies are also very, very annoying to deal with, and most of the time baiting one into parrying doesn't work on console because he can just cc anything thats not unblockable or a bash or grab (because we console nubs cant consistently light parry). His ability to just shut down opener lights is huge as well; read properly, your opponent cant even attack without fear of being bulwarked. Last but not least his bulwark has the highest heavy "parry" punish with the exception of centurion when theres a wall present at 35 damage.

Also, his feats are god teir because you can do things like -say no to revenge -not die -give your allies almost full health bar shields provided they have aegis -morale booster/doom banner -heal without a zone for an indefinite period of time -speed revive This concludes my ted talk.
