This is another amazing opportunity for you to own a gorgeous piece of history. This fixer upper is on a quiet street and a beautiful shaded lot with a large open back yard and one car garage. It needs some work but could be an incredible show place.
The 2506 sf house is listed at $80/foot. While there is electric, hvac and plumbing in the home, they will all require improvements. There are structural repairs needed but beyond that, most of your work is cosmetic. That means you can do much of it.

Your editing, filming, B-roll & music choice is all excellent. Laine's presentation was on point. I love all the houses but mostly I love watching your style grow & evolve. The first time you had a sponsor I got so excited! Your channel is the perfect mix of everyone's favorite fixer uppers, tours of finished homes to see what fixer uppers can become & you two teaching us how to do it all...all while being entertaining & fun. My husband rates channels on the hosts ability to talk to the camera naturally & not feel forced & you guys do that. Keep up the good work! One day you'll have millions of subs so you can quit your day jobs & save all the old homes!!! We're rooting for you here in NE OH! (Ashtabula - a very historic town of underground railroads, covered bridges & Lake Captain homes!)

First, thank you to the owner(s) and real estate agents for letting you do the tour, that was fantastic of them, and this was, as always, incredibly enjoyable to see such a beautiful home in such fantastic shape. Whoever lived here really loved this place, and it shows! Second, you're almost to 100k subscribers, so an early congratulations on that, too! I can't wait to see this community expand! Third, if someone from the channel buys this beauty, you have to invite Laine and Kevin over to see the work once it's done so we can get an updated tour!

I’d like to add that although I’m living in the United Kingdom I have been renovating houses for donkeys years. My current home is just about to go on the market as we’re coming back to America. The oldest house I ever renovated was about 500 years old and formally belonged to Oliver Cromwell. It’s amazing what you can find in the process of taking on a project like this. We discovered a concealed basement that had a tunnel that went straight to the beach/harbour. This was used by pirates who would be ready for any shipwreck. They would use the tunnel to take their ill gotten gains from the ships to be sold. It’s just a wonderful way to bring back history and see how you can use your imagination. Many thanks for your delightful video and I will be in touch with you when we finally arrive. Keep up the great work and never be afraid of taking on a project. Always have a good surveyor who fully understands old properties and, whatever your contingency budget is add another 20% 😉💫

I imagine that house was listed! Did you have a lot of back and forth in getting planning permission when you restored/renovated it? Seems like one of those homes that would make it onto Restoration Home or something.

It sounds most exciting, an old house with history ,being refurbished It must be awful lot of work ,though.I can very well imagine the passion and dedication ,not to mention the labour that must go into these projectsbut the end result must make it all worthwhile.
@lorrieleaver2447

@@venus_envy Strangely enough it wasn’t listed when we bought it so, we carried out all the renovations in keeping with the era of the property and adding the modern comforts like bathrooms and kitchens and after all the work we had the property listed. It had been modernised over the years but not in keeping with the period of it’s time so we literally had to start over. Our builders and carpenters were on site for almost 3 years. It’s not something for the feint hearted but it’s a challenge that’s well worth doing. I loved every moment and especially when we found secret rooms and hiding places etc.

My first thought was "Pearl Clone". You definitely listen to your viewers, and this was fun to see. You are providing a way for the home to be saved, and helping potential new owners with the kind of specific assistance which is near impossible to find otherwise. In your Live Chat the other day you mentioned about your home, Scotty, and the drastic amount of work it took to make it what it is today. These 'gently used' old homes are often in better condition (due to the original quality of the materials) than a house from the 1990s that was cheaply made and/or never maintained. What a lovely little gem. :)

What a charming sweet house. I wish I had the guts to move there. Money is no problem. It’s being a resent widow who’s lived in this town for 52 years being married. I fell in love with it from the porch n bay windows. I’m so scared to pick up n move. But it won’t stop me from watching you n Kevin. Gosh, Mississippi has some beautiful historical houses that make me want to dream. I wouldn’t change much to this house. I’d just do the necessities that have to be done. Love everything about this house. I hope whoever steps up n buys it they don’t start tearing down walls n ruin the charm of this house. ♥️♥️♥️😊👍👍👍👍

we bought a farm house built in 1840's and restored it including some foundation issues. We didnt discover it till after buying it bc the house was a hoarder paradise with one family owning it and passing it down for several generations. We have never regretted the purchase and love our old farmhouse is well loved and lived in. Don't be afraid to repair foundation. Just go for it.

I love Victorian Homes they are so beautiful done. I live in Massachusetts and the city I live in has a home that I am so obsessed with. In the front of the home it has a round corner and the window's and glass are also round to go with the exterior. The porch is so incredible it goes halfway around the home. I get chills just looking at it. I appreciate the hardwork you put into restoring these beautiful home's back to there original state. ❤️

We considered buying this because we were and still are thinking about moving to Natchez. We love it there. I would love to make restoring that house my job for a year. If we do, we would love to meet ya'll. My wife's grandfather was a Berdon and a Berdon of the Salvo & Berdon Candy Company that was on the corner of Wall Street and Main. We would already be living there if we would have gotten that house on Washington. We couldn't believe it sat on the market for as long as it did and it sold a week before we saw it. The for sale sign was still out front.

I love this house! Would almost live in Mississippi for it. The original details are wonderful and all those fireplaces. The kitchen is a bummer, my favorite thing in an old house is a kitchen with original cabinets. At least they weren't ones from a 70's remodel. I would keep the house as is pretty much. I don't need a showcase and I like things to look a bit old and ragged. Thanks for the video!

Hi Laine and Kevin, watching from New Zealand here. Pearl and her sister look very much like NZ houses of the period, but ours always have a central hallway, and lathe and plaster only featured on high end houses. This house is worth it for its beautiful established garden alone.

So I grew up in a Folk Victorian built in 1905 and now have purchased one built in 1909. One thing I have seen in my new house, but not others, is a triple fire place. My childhood home had 3 doubles and I’ve looked in 7 of the other similar Houses here and none have a triple and the Owners say mine is the first they’ve seen. When you walk onto the front porch door, enter the foyer (or entry way) and master bedroom is to the right and it has the fireplace on angle and open to the foyer and also open to the second bedroom on the other side of the wall. Pretty neat. (Triangle shaped in other words )

I love old homes, but for some reason I wasn't feeling like this home was warm and inviting by the entry into the living room directly. My idea for the back kitchen would be a little different. I wouldn't remove the walls in that tiny kitchen. I would make it a butler's pantry and make the kitchen in the area you mentioned. I think that still would be a nice size and it would keep the walls and provide a great area for kitchen storage.

There are so many beautiful homes in the south, but living there has some situations we have moved from. Good luck folks. We have done many of these older homes. Some were easy and some were not. Learn your neighborhood and neighbors first before buying. The biggest problem we have had was with neighbor animals. That leads to problems with the neighbors not understanding that you really don’t want their dog barking at 3 AM every morning under your bedroom window. The second problem was boundaries. Get a survey and put up a fence. Many times the neighbor had claimed some of your land as their own, fenced it, or had buildings on it. That has to be resolved by the seller. These projects are satisfying.

I believe that back room with the original siding walls was originally the back porch. The pics on the Zillow listing show the outside back of the house and it's obvious (to me) that someone added an exterior wall. Given all the work that needs to be done, what is an educated guess for the cost of repairs (assuming contractors do all the work)?
