I hope one day I'll get to visit Paris.... that would be my bucket list vacation. I'm so sad that the times I went to England, was way before I loved reading so I missed out on all the incredible land marks there.

Even now I'm constantly discovering new authors and realizing I missed out on literary sites, but at least the sites will remain there if we go back!

As much as I don't care for Wuthering Heights, I'd definitely be interested in seeing what else Emily would have written. The same with Anne Bronte too!

I would also love to know what else Anne would have written!

This video was all over the map! Great! Interesting and helpful, too! I recently finished The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby and enjoyed it a lot. I’m curious why Great Expectations is your least favorite Dickens’ novel-I was assigned it and Romeo and Juliet in middle school and did not make it through either of them. Currently, I’m 2/3 of the way through Villette and simply love it-so good! And your insight about Notre Dame was news to me-thanks for that bit of trivia. I could go on but I enjoyed this tag video and hope you make another poetry vlog, soon. Thanks, Valerie!

I think the pace of Great Expectations didn’t work for me given that we were mostly following Pip, and I also didn’t really like Pip so that didn’t help. Glad you’re enjoying Villette!

I'm bored and procrastinating, so... 😂 1. Why do you read Classics and how often do you read Classics? Because they're the best books of all time, and as often as I can. I love reading classics from all over the world, because it teaches you so much about a culture to know what they value most in their literature. 2. What is a period/country/culture that you haven't read many classics from and would like too? Australia. I don't think I've ever read an Australian classic? I don't even know what they are, beyond The Thorn Birds! I have classics from every continent on my shelves except Australia, and it's bugging me. I need to fix that. 3. Which modern book do you think will be a classic in 100 years time? Lots, um... Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell comes to mind. Life of Pi. A Man Called Ove and probably more from that author. Room. Station Eleven. Anything by Diane Setterfield. Most of the modern books I'm drawn to are what I would consider tomorrow's classics. 4. What was the last classic you read? I don't know if it counts, but I just finished Steinbeck's Once There Was a War. It's nonfiction and not very well-known, but it's Steinbeck, so I consider it a classic. 5. What was the first classic you ever read? I grew up on children's classics, so I don't know what children's classic I read first. The first adult classic I ever read by myself was the Sherlock Holmes story The Speckled Band. I got it for Christmas when I was 7 from an old lady who knew I was a reader and thought it was a children's book because of the style of the cover. I remember asking my parents every 30 seconds what a word was, lol. But I got through it! 6. Favorite classic book cover I'll go with editions as a whole for this question. I love the Penguin Deluxe editions, they do such cool things with their covers. 7. Classic authors you wish had written more books Imagine if Charles Dickens had lived another 30 years... 😭 Also, Anne Bronte. The leap from Agnes Grey to Tenant of Wildfell Hall was spectacular, I can't even imagine what her third book could have been. 8. Least Favorite classic Anything by Faulkner or D.H. Lawrence. But I also agree with your answer, Catcher in the Rye. 9. Favorite translated classic Les Miserables, but I love so many! 10. Favorite modern classic (published after 1900) Rilla of Ingleside by L.M. Montgomery. Published in 1921, set during WWI. 11. Classic literary places you would like to visit I'm not even sure what's out there, but museums for my fave authors would be cool, like Dickens, the Brontes, L.M. Montgomery. 12. First classic you would recommend for a child? Beatrix Potter, Winnie-the-Pooh, The Secret Garden, Anne of Green Gables, Alice in Wonderland, Robert Louis Stevenson, Jules Verne... in terms of adult classics, I think that's where abridged classics have a legitimate place in the world. I'd give a kid an abridged version of The Count of Monte Cristo or Robinson Crusoe. 13. Classics you think are mistitled and what would you title them? Barnaby Rudge should have the title Dickens originally wanted it to have, which was Gabriel Varden. People go into it thinking Barnaby Rudge is the main character, but he isn't, and that's confusing. I think that's why so many people don't like it. 14. Your favorite classic you'd like to recommend to everyone My fave classic is A Tale of Two Cities. It has a bad rap, and lots of people avoid ever reading it because they've heard it's tedious or whatever. I wish people would just give it a chance! Once you get through the first 50 pages or so, it's exciting and gorgeous and moving and wonderful.

I love that you did this haha. This reminded me that I need to read Life of Pi. Interesting about Barnaby Rudge, I haven't read it, and I didn't know Dickens originally wanted a different title!
