For two days of skiing in Italy. Moena, Dolomites
I have long dreamed of skiing in the Dolomites. After so many years, the time has come for this dream to come true.
Most people go skiing in the Alps for at least a week, but we didn't have that much time. Despite everything, we decided to jump in the car and drive 15 hours to Moena, Dolomites. This was the place I chose to visit. There is also a Michelin one-star restaurant in the town, which we were able to visit. Great food and setting. We had made the reservation a few weeks earlier. It was an experience.
I really liked the city of Moena. The Tyrolean style is recognisable, and so is the food in this part of Italy. Polenta, potatoes, dumplings, mushrooms, game and many cheeses dominate the menu. There were neat delicatessens in the central part of Moena. I couldn't help but buy different cheeses and even a whole butt spec (dried pork leg), which we will eat all year. 😊
And the tracks? Ah, the tracks were a fantasy. For someone like me, who is not very confident on skis, this is heaven. Wide pistes, fast lifts and perfect conditions. The restaurants on the slopes were crowded with cheerful people in ski outfits. There were a lot of temptations, but there is no way to try everything in 2 days. The coffee was no more expensive than 1.6 euros and the parking in the San Pellegrino ski area was free. This ski area is located about 10 km from Moena and is a place I would return to again.
Tired from the second day on the slopes, we headed to the biggest and most beautiful spa I've ever been to. Thanks to Iliyan for writing to me on Instagram and recommending the place. We hadn't planned it in advance and I'm glad we were able to visit it. It's really worth it.
