Mushroom Wonderland

Mushroom Wonderland

Күн бұрын

In this video I take a newbie foraging for mushrooms. Penny was happy to go on a foray and very excited to find chanterelles, suillus, oyster mushrooms, and learn a lot about other types of fungi and their habitat.
I thought this video would be a great idea because I am sure there are some questions a new person to the hobby of mushroom hunting might ask that I haven't thought of.
We found some great mushrooms and had a lot of fun!
Come along on a journey into mushroom wonderland.

I love this video. It makes me really miss living in the PNW. That is where I first developed the love of foraging 20 years ago. Now I'm living in the foothills of the Appalachian mountains in NW Georgia, learning all about the myco environment here

I love that you two took the time to show someone new to foraging around! I will never forget my first time finding a chanterelle...its so funny how something so small can be such a big deal. I still get excited when foraging, and the more I learn, the more I enjoy it. I'm a new member of the KPMS (this month was my first meeting). I am eager to learn more and get to know the locals in my mushroom community. Keep the videos coming! I love this channel

@@erinobrien8408 I haven't been out much do to having a new baby at home. But I'm thinking after all this rain I'll probably go hunting this weekend. I'd like to find some chanterelles locally. I've found a lot of them out in granite falls area but have yet to find them around me. My yard is full of white coral mushrooms right now though and it looks really cool. 😂

I always wash my channelle under water with a soft brush. Any watter added just cooks out. I add butter only after all the watter has evaporated out while sautéing. For me it makes it a lot easier to clean. Especially with the semi subterranean white chantrelle.

In SC I find golden chanterelles in July in valleys, but only if there's been a good amount of rain. Maybe surprising, with the heat we have, but I've done it numerous times.

The deer mushroom gets its name from the shape of the spores. Under microscope the spores look like there are "antlers" growing off of them. Deer mushrooms are said to be a bit radishy in flavor.

I know you don’t want to be a pest but you should always ask us watchers to respond, like and subscribe.. You do mention like and subscribe but I’ve yet to hear you ask for comments. It’s important bc the more interaction on your page, the better for the KZfaq algorithm. I appreciate your foraging videos so I’d love to see your channel become successful bc I know how much work goes into these videos Mush Love ✌️🍄

@@mushroomwonderland1 Don't worry about that, we are learning from you and want you to be successful. Unfortunately, many watchers just don't know the correlation of comment, like, and subscribe ( interaction )to your success here on KZfaq. You'll find that your followers will be more than happy to help you out!! You can ask at the end of your videos, bc if they've made it that far, their obviously invested in your content. Remember, it only takes us a couple of seconds for us to give a little appreciation back to you and your wife for all your hard work, time and dedication you've offered up to us . Ask and you shall receive my friend☺️ One of the best prices of advice my momma gave me was, it never hurts to ask, the worst they can say is no, and even that would be a win in KZfaq land if they leave it in a comment 😂🙌 I look forward to learning more from you. I found yellow foot chanterelles in spring. Is that the "winter chanterelle" you're talking about? I think they're supposed to grow in the winter. Micro climate like you were talking. Up around 2000ft snow still on the logging roads.
