It might be an urban legend, but when I went to Pitt people used to say that the homeplate display by the computer lab wasn't the real location and that it would have actually been where the nearby bathroom was.

We used to get off school at lunch if we were going to the home opener there. It.was usually either cool or overcast.

Loved those old parks growing up, Forbes was one of my faves, perhaps cuz Clemente played there, wish they could have kept them all, time goes on I guess.

It would look great if an artist could place a life-like painting depicting Yogi Berra's persona looking up as Mazeroski's homer clears the wall.

fantastic video!!!such a awesome looking park. its really we didn't have enough foresight to preserve these gems. would have been an ever more cherished ball park as Fenway, Wrigley with the ivy on the outfield walls. Living in Chicago we know what we've lost. when comiskey went under the wreaking ball. PNC is a pretty kick ass i might add. the cell (replacement for comiskey is a dumb). could be worse could be playing in the trop which was a real possibility. thanks for the memories.

Believe it or not, my cousin ended up pulling home plate from the ground at the very last game at Forbes Field. Fans rushed the field and he said everyone was running around and he went over to home plate and it was already pulled half way out of the ground as there were some long spikes holding the plate in the ground. He said he just pulled it the rest of the way out of the ground. The following days, there was an up roar as to what happened to home plate as someone had ran off with it. A few days later my cousin had to hand over home plate and I'm glad he did cause it needs to be there. But he did get his picture holding the plate in our local paper. My regret is that I never got to see it before he turned it back in. I was at the game to see the last ball hit over the right field roof by Stargell, which was the 7th ball he hit over the roof. One other thing is that there were no cheap homeruns at Forbes. I remember going to the games and they used to store the batting cage up against the wall in center field since it was so far away. Now that is something you don't see in today's game. Don't forget the cop out in Oakland too that used to put on a show directing traffic. We used to watch him before walking over to Forbes to the games.

If this stadium were still being used, todays players would hit very few home runs. Today, infield flies are almost to the warning track lol

How about some narration. The horrible music serves no purpose.

That's what I was about to say till I spotted your post. Yes, this needs some narration instead of this racket. Good vid otherwise.

I read that had they put Home Plate in it's proper place, it would have been in one of the womens restroom stalls.
