FORBIDDEN to work in CHINA if you get MARRIED? - Fact-checking video
Are you really forbidden to work in China if you get married to a Chinese citizen?
The answer is simple: no.
Being married DOES NOT preclude you from working legally in China.
Being an unskilled jobseeker in China precludes you from working legally here, and that has nothing to do with being married.
Watch the video to understand why the policies related to marriage and legal work, are different in the US and China.

Thank you for this sensible video. All I would add to the subject is, I would not even consider marriage in China, due to the fact that getting citizenship is next to impossible. That would instill so much insecurities. Also trembling over whether my visa would be renewed for the rest of my life does not sound like a peaceful place. If the divorce happens, and you have kids together, you'd have your whole life uprooted in a second, lest you have a work permit and/or fortune. Not to mention the possibility your spouse rigs to get you fired, or something.... It's all just too risqué. To you all who decide, or have married in China I wish the best of luck.

@@FerMuBe I can't father a thing though. And I won't consider mothering while China makes it that stressful and practically makes you feel unwelcome to settle. Yes, they have huge population, but family should be able to make you feel like at home, not like a lifetime visitor. I still love China and will hopefully spend some time there. Marriage absolutely NOT until China offers citizenship. And that would only make for a reconsidering. The thing is that Chinese people should be able to decide who they want to welcome to their nation through marriage. This way, they're putting their people in position where they can't promise to their future spouse that they'll be allowed to at least stay in the country. It depends on the decision on visa renewal (as certain as it is it's never 100%). I see this as a reason to refuse dating/marriage, easily one to tilt the scales to negative side. That's China's cruelty to their own people, nothing more, nothing less. Im not unskilled worker, and just joined the discussion to maybe add that perspective...

A spouse resident visa is valid for 2 years and you can not work on spouse resident visa. Also you can apply for a spouse resident visa whilst in China. A visiting relative visa is only for people who are outside of China and you can only stay for 90 days. FACTS

Well, I beg to differ writing down that your video does not clarify who qualifies in China for work permit and what are necessary qualifications.
@FerMuBe
@FerMuBe 3 жыл бұрын
That is not the purpose of the video. The objective was to clarify that you CAN work even if you are married as long as you qualify for a work permit. It varies from occupation to occupation but in general, and since you live here - you probably know this - the requirements are: 1- degree 2- criminal background check 3- health check 4- experience 5- a job offer from a company licensed to hire foreigners. I say it varies because I have a foreign friend who is a magician. He is married to a Chinese lady and gets "performance visas" sometimes one for each day of his show. But no, a marriage visa does not allow people to work. You need to qualify/meet the requirements for that.
@nevco8774
@nevco8774 3 жыл бұрын
@@FerMuBe Thanks for the answer. I do not live in China. However I noticed the list of requirements is close to that needed to work in the USA. I can point Canadian system of immigration allowing to apply based on profession without having a sponsorship of a company employing foreign laborers. Looks like Canadian system is clearly selecting higher educated skilled folks to qualify for immigration. Yes the USA has visa type O for highly skilled workers which also was challenged by governemt recently but is still in place and yes requires an employer to sponsor it. For visa type O usually apply folks in research with successful background and software specialists. Anyone young enough with higher education might qualify for Canadian permanent immigration - a huge difference from working visa in the USA or China which is still long way to go to get permanent residency status in those 2 countries. I do not mention automatic gain of citizenship in Canada which a very long path in the USA and I assume a even longer one in China.

I've always had the work permit and residence visa... What annoys me is the redundancy. On the family visa the renewals are every 5years for me, but the work permits are 6m to 1yr.... And we all know how annoying and drawn out that process is. It would be awesome if we can maintain the family Visa and apply for the work permit separately (In fact if you're legally working in China, you already have to do that). I don't see the logic of having to cancel ones family visa to apply for a work permit if you qualify and have qualified many times before. 😶

Are you on a married vida or a student visa? Marriage visa doesn't allow people to work. (Stupid, I know, but they have their reasons) Student visa, if it's at university level, allows you to do internship (paid or not)
