The Forcan Ridge in Kintail is considered a classic scottish mountain scramble and lays in the North-West of Scotland. In this video we are scrambling the complete Forcan Ridge including the bad step with a wild camp on top of the Saddle.

Thanks a lot Robert! I always try to show it as realistic as it goes (e.g. GoPro on linear and not on ultra-wide) as I assume quite a few people watch the videos as a preparation for their own adventures.

@@StripeyHatGuy Being in my seventies that’s a bit beyond my capabilities now. Also that was a route I always fancied but never did.We didn’t have the camera equipment of nowadays so it’s great to see. Managed quite a few over the years,the Cuillin of course is one of the best, and An Teallach. Will continue watching your vids with interest.

Brilliant Stripey, brought back good memories when we did it. It's a great scramble. We bypassed that down climb. Looked tricky. Easier being roped up. I remember thinking the saddle would be a cracking camp spot. 👌😎

Thanks a lot Kev! Yeah it looks definitely more difficult than it is imho. The spot is just outstanding, water, view and a more or less flat camp spot + most of the time it is well sheltered from the east/northeast winds here in Scotland 🧐

@@StripeyHatGuy yeah its a great wee ridge.. The very first scramble can be avoided with a very steep grass slope on the right hidden around the rocks.. Walkhighlands doesn't mention this . Walkhighlands makes it out to be more difficult than it is 😅

@@itsablack1 yeah absolutely true! Sam and me thought as well that it is rather a 0.5 than a 2 said this the down climb might be a Grade 2…not sure difficult to tell with all these numbers. It is basically a hike with every so often hands on in dry conditions in my eyes.

Hi Stripey👋🏻That was a wild video! Stunning views, daring scramble and it looked enjoyable beyond words! I was worried for you and Sam a few times, but how effortless you both made that look. The natural watering hole with surrounding snow, looked surreal. You picked the perfect spot to pitch your tent too. What a fantastic video, with perfect perspective of the surroundings. Just beautiful. As always, thank you sharing your amazing hikes and wild camping adventures.✌🏻👋🏻

Thanks a lot S Hunter. Yeah it really depends where you want to hike. Sam and me were definitely looking for the scramble so a lot of our route isn’t necessary and can be bypassed which might explain it as well. Looked a bit difficult in parts of the climb and descent. An amazing view where you camped. Looked cold and foggy ( low cloud) in the morning.
@StripeyHatGuy
@StripeyHatGuy Жыл бұрын
Hi Grant, Some parts were a bit trickier but they can be avoided if preferred - the views were just outstanding with all the layers in the scenery. The major problem with camping in the cloud is always that it gets wet in the tent, particular with a single wall tent. If we would have camped another day it would have been a good idea to dry our stuff proper out for an hour or so. Thanks a lot for watching! ATB Stripey
