2 Different stories with different pace yeah, you're right. The director is trying to create a connection with the actress that's why there is a love story so that, if someone died we can feel the pain what our main lead is feeling right now!

I have seen the comments calling it a remake. But here's the thing. This is one of the remakes which was a good one. The story was updated to suit the activities of 2011, as compared to the 2001 era, and the action sequences were polished to make it look more kinetic and "finesse" as compared to the visceral action sequences of the original. The story was strong, written well, and can be taken in without any major flaws. Also, John Abraham has a physique that just screams "strength" so while his acting might not be as beautiful as Suriya's, his imposing physical personality more than covers for it, so not much damage done. As for Vidyut Jammwal's work, the comments and Andrew have already said a lot, so I don't need to add much to it.

@@PrateekReddy-jz7mn Dude, no need to be this aggressive. I have watched the original, and they reused the soundtrack of just ONE SONG. The rest were all new compositions. Also, the music director of the Tamil movie "Kaakha Kaakha" and this one is the same, Harris Jayaraj, so it is not copying as much as a music director reusing a popular score of his own. Also, Suriya's action sequences were visceral, with gore. When he was punching and stabbing the villain, you literally feel his anguish. It is a different style of connection, compared to the more "MMA style fighting" that this one portrays (I'm speaking about Vidyut Jammwal's stuntwork, and not about the first fights of John Abraham).

They can watch nanban instead. Shankar spent a lot of money to make it even grander. Personally don’t mind if they watch force. But don’t like that regional movies are constantly ignored where as their bollywood remakes get all the praise.
