Great truck. I grew up near Duluth and had a 78 F250 4x4 with the 300 in high school. We were out in the swamps all the time revving that engine to the moon and it never gave me any trouble. Though the 38" super swampers really made that engine fall on its face when I hit 4th gear on the highway. Thanks for video. Sweet rig!

Jordan, that's great! Glad this brought back some memories. I had this truck with me in Duluth for a while as I attended college up there. I can't imagine trying to spin 38's with a 300 I6!

@@rumrivertriples4073 I had to have the pedal to the floor the entire time in fourth gear on the highway but it could still make 65. Granny, 2nd & 3rd it had no problems. If I had your 4 barrel setup it would have been much better that that tiny single barrel.

@@jordanwiermaa2147woof that sounds brutal. The price you pay for big tires though. I'll take 75mph cruising on the freeway with my short tires (although a part of me wishes this was a lifted 4x4)

That sounds like it runs amazing. I have the stock Carter 1 barrel with all the emmisions bs on my 81. Very much am considering switching to this setup. Had an issue the other day where I was riding down the road and backfired out of nowhere. Started looking at it and the carb was shooting fuel out where it bolts to my intake, and my intake manifold had fuel sitting in the bottom of it. Way too rich plus the fact that I though pumping the gas was going a good idea when trying to restart. Oops haha

This truck is running split manifolds from a newer EFI engine. From there it is a catless walker y-pipe back to a parts store stock replacement muffler and tailpipe. I dislike the tractor sound from loud exhaust on these 300's so I'm trying to keep it quiet.

Did you make the skid plate, that goes under the intake (it seems your running water), I'm Asking because i want to swap to EFI manifolds, but i think you have to run water or hot air into the Intake for keeping the carb warm. Am i right???
@rumrivertriples40734 жыл бұрын
You are correct I am running a coolant plate to heat the intake. You can make your own, or I purchased one from Raso Enterprises here: autoparts.rasoenterprises.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=8 Please note that I believe his kit is specifically for the C-Series Offenhauser intake which I happen to be running. What'd you have to do to put the newer style alternator on
@rumrivertriples40734 жыл бұрын
I had to cut off a portion of the alternator bracket where the air pump was and do some grinding for clearance on the same bracket. Wired in a mega fuse and followed a couple of online tutorials for wiring. I forget if I needed to rob the pulley from my original alternator.
