In this video I show the steps and procedures necessary to replace the spark plug wires and spark plugs and a 6.2 L Ford engine. These engines come standard in F-250, f-350, f-450, and 550 series trucks. Also these engines come in the Ford raptor starting in 2011.As you may or may not know this engine has 16 spark plugs that need to be replaced. Two per cylinder. At first it seems like a lot of work but with a couple of tips and tricks, i show you the job is not too difficult. If you have any questions feel free to leave something in the comment section. And make sure to check the links below for good prices on parts and tools. Thanks for watching

Very good. I liked all of it. For those who are not as skilled, I would have mentioned that there are 4 hoses to be pulled off the video. I had to play it a couple of times to see the hose lines. I always preset the plug gap at .044 . Excellent. TNX. Brother Leo

Good video, helped out a lot, thanks. I did mine today. Plugs, wires and coilpacks. 113K miles on everything. I was expecting the coils to be in worse condition based on what other people said. Probably wasn't worth the money to replace the coil packs, but the truck has been bullet proof, so it deserved some love.

It’s just an extra safety measure. When I had a check engine light due to misfire I had to disconnect batter for 30min to reset the computer. I put new plugs and it had same misfire for a week. Disconnected battery for 30min and when I crunk it up the check engine light was gone and never came back. Some vehicles won’t reset themselves

Bad coil pack. It’s probably split. Mine blew open. Was sparking to the cylinder head. Caused an assortment of issues. Been chasing gremlins ever since. @sdvten
@sdvten Жыл бұрын
Right away. There is a little suppression insert between the coil contact and the spring inside the COP boot that likes to corrode. When that corrodes it causes excess resistance and the spark can cut a hole in the side of the coil housing or boot and arc on the engine or fuel rail. Happened to mine at around 55k miles.

This would have been nice when I did mine last year! The dealership quoted me like 4 hours of work for spark plugs. I got mine done in 5 with breaks so I figured I didn't do too bad lol. Next time I do the plugs I'll have to replace the wires. Do you ever replace coils or just whenever they go bad? Those were pretty spendy when I looked at them.

1) Di Electric grease can not be used at the plug contact point. Dielectric grease is a non conductive grease. It's purpose is to not allow current flow. 2) When removing your plug wires if you remove them prior to unbolting your coils,you don't need to jerk the wires all over and bang the coils around. DO NOT DROP OR BANG COILS THEY ARE SENSITIVE TO SHOCK. 3)Why would you DROP your gaped plugs down the plug well when you have a spark plug socket. GAPED WRONG NOW. The 5 inch drop is enough to close the gap on the Iridium plugs. I STOPPED WATCHING AT THIS POINT. GOOD LUCK

I don't usually comment on videos that are educational but in this case I must. Why on earth didn't you show the removal of the foremost spark plug on the passenger side, Mr. Wizard? It's the one I'm having issue getting to and it's skipped. Why not show every step of the operation when doing an educational video? Time restraint? If that's the case then why not showcase the more difficult aspects of the job rather than the routine?? It's infuriating and banal.
