This video was SPOT on. Ford quoted me $1300 to replace it...bought one for $175 on Amazon and did it myself. One suggestion I have for folks: After removing the chrome piece, wrap both ends in rags to prevent scratching paint and use 3M painters tape to hold it for you on the lift gate. The chrome piece is light enough for the painters' tape and it frees your hands to remove and replace the camera, bracket and screw. Thanks for posting this!!!

Thank you for posting this - I just fixed a 2011 Explorer. Your instructions were spot on - saved me hundreds of dollars over what my dealer wanted. Took me about 35 minutes including starting / stopping the video to stay in sync with you. Really appreciate it.

@@Chuckhollywood22 I had no issues that were related to the instructions at all. The one thing that I did have that may be specific to me was that the housing that the camera sits in was surrounded by a very thin foam cushion, almost like a gasket. After 11 years it was very brittle and dry rotted, it basically flaked off when I took apart and separated the back housing from the car. When I was done with the entire job I just put a very thin seal of clear silicone caulking around the whole housing to make sure no water gets in.

Yosh, great video. A little long but very thorough. My dealer told me $700 to replace the camera on 2014 Explorer. I bought it online for 173$. After watching your video 2x I changed it in 18 mins! Well done.

Great video my 2013 Explorer camera is working intermittently. When it does work the picture shows the opposite side. The right side view is the left side and vice-versa. I had just update my navigation card to A12 from A4 and I thought that had created my camera problem. Now I know that's not the case. I am going to buy the OEM part since I am going to do it myself. Thanks Josh.

Dude this is a great informational video. Ford should do a recall on the Explorer since this is a reoccurrence problem.

@@MAKEITWORKWITHYOSH we just bought a 2011 limited explorer. Camera works but not shure if its right but whats on left it apperas on the right of the camera? And vice versa whats on the right it apperas on the left is that normal?

The wife's 2015 camera is intermittent, I'm not sure if it needs to be replaced or another issue; seems to happen during the hot weather. great video by the way.

how do the swaying guidelines come up when you steer the steering wheel on this model? mine has a fixed grid lines only. thank you for your video

I have a base model 2014. If I buy the factory OEM camera and this ford wiring harness (WPT1556 ), do you think I would be able to successfully install the camera system? Or would I have to do an aftermarket system?

Thank you so much for watching my video. For your truck to show the rear it's best that you buy a aftermarket kit that includes the stereo with a LCD display and the rear camera kit. Now days you can get the wireless rear camera if you don't want to run a lot of wires but if that doesn't matter to you just get you a basic stereo with a rear camera setup. Did you see any improvement in the video quality? I just purchased a 2011 to be my daily driver to save mileage on my other truck. And I'm getting that message intermittently and lost the lines. But the video quality sucks from day 1.

I understand what you are going through I feel they need to do a major recall on all of the Ford explorers having this problem they did a recall for the 2022s and 23 models but they also need to do it for ours because that's where it started from well I hope my video will help you to purchase and install a new camera and save you a lot of money please make sure you subscribe to my channel and have a great day

as much as i like to see these DIY videos,, sometimes you guys need to invest in a tripod to hold your cellphones or camcorders while recording vital information such as automechanics. There are safety measures that must be followed while performing these repairs so you and your often inexperienced audience, can do a good job properly. Other than that, good video.
