Ford F-150 2015 2.7L Purge Valve Solenoid | Fuel Line Bracket Replacement (GL3Z-9B325-B) P2450

Replacing a fuel line bracket aka canister purge valve solenoid on a 2015 Ford F-150 2.7L engine | OEM part GL3Z-9B325-B | Duralast part PV967 ($55 is what I paid) | Check engine code P2450.
In the video, I couldn’t remember the diagnostic code, but I went to AutoZone afterwards and they confirmed P2450 (Evaporative Emission Control System Switching Valve Performance or Stuck Open).
UPDATE:
I ended up waiting 6 months, and the check engine light came on with same code. Dealer quoted $584 to replace part JL3Z 9D333 D. The part itself looks to be around $130 online, but would require dropping the gas tank. Guy at dealership agrees with me that it’s something I can continue to ignore.

Earning my KZfaq Mechanics degree with vids like this one. Only Issue I had with getting this part exchanged was, IM TOO FUCKING SHORT TO REACH THE BACK. I was all up in the engine reaching to the back to get the clips out and then plug the new part in! Sorry no pics of my feet hanging out of the engine. PS. For those with epoxy floors, you will slide standing on your stand! LOL.. thanks again for the help. Saved me a ton of money.

@@genepiscitelli SAME! I’m 6’1”, was standing on a stool and still had a hard time to reach. I’m seriously considering a shorter car for ease of maintenance.

just put this part in my 2015 ford f150 the most difficult part, by far, was undoing the clips. this video helped a ton. thanks for sharing!

Appreciate this video a ton. Dealer just quoted me $752 to replace this part. Picked it up for $58 at O’Reilley and plan to replace this afternoon. Significantly quicker than the 3.6 labor hours the dealer claims it takes.

Will this fix “P2196 - 02 Sensor Signal Biased/Stuck Rich - Bank 1, Sensor 1” the other purge valve I found is smaller but I don’t have it on my truck. Where I have this one in the video.

thanks for the video! this was super helpful and just did this on my 2017 ford f-150. the only negative experience i had was the back vapor line with the green clip that is tough to get off actually popped off and fell down into my engine. do you happen to know what those clips are called? I have been googling to try to find. might just need to go to a dealership parts shop and ask.

Good video on help with the clips. I have the same code and changed out my solenoid purge valve and still have the check engine light on. Any follow up on getting yours fixed?

I haven’t officially confirmed yet. I don’t drive much, so it hasn’t been too concerning. I am due for an oil change soon, so I’ll have dealer check it out. From what I can tell from online research, it’s part FL3Z-9D683-D that needs replaced and requires the fuel tank to be dropped in order to get to the part.

Update: after almost 2 weeks, the check engine light is still on with P2450. I fear it is an evap valve located on top of the gas tank, which requires the gas tank to be dropped. Will need to have dealer work on that one.

@philthy47 I fortunately found the one I dropped and the only other option I found that might work is Google search a 90 degree 3/8 or 5/16 fuel pipe female connector quick connector and steal the piece off of it.

What symptoms were you having? If the symptoms are gone have you tried having the codes reset?

No symptoms at all. I did reset the code and it hasn’t come back. I have yet to get in for an oil change, but when I do, I’ll have the dealer assess.

@@twinenk15 I bought an OBD scanner that checks the codes… some of them are capable of turning the check engine light off.

@@garagehacksChannelThe guys at AutoZone told me just drive it, it will go off. After replacing the part, the check engine light went off at about 150 miles. I was thinking of getting my own OBD scanner. Which scanner would you recommend? Thank you,

I cleared the code originally, but the check engine light came on with same code just this week. I finally took it a dealer who quoted $584 to replace part JL3Z 9D333 D. The part itself looks to be around $130 online, but would require dropping the gas tank. Guy at dealership agrees with me that it’s something I can continue to ignore. Doesn’t seem to be critical.

Just had it happen today... 2017 as well and AZ told me the same thing, so I guess I know what I'm doing this weekend... BTW the PV967 appears to be an AC Delco part so I have strong reservations about installing it in my truck. Think I'll opt for Ford's GL3Z9B325B instead.

@@101src I installed the ford part back when i posted this above comment. 8 months later and the problem hasn't returned. Wasn't hard to install at all but did have to drop the gas tank. Just drove the truck until it was on E so dropping the tank wasn't hard at all.

Guy at dealership agrees with me that it's something I can continue to ignore. I bought a Dartwood OBD2 scanner and clear the check engine code about every 3 months when I pops up randomly. Problem successfully ignored with no noticeable repercussions.

It shouldn’t be necessary (I didn’t). But, it’s easy to remove the negative terminal, so maybe it is better to be safe.

Came back this morning fresh and it took me less than 5 minutes to swap out the part. Cleared the code, now I’ll wait. The best part is that I didn’t break any plastic clips.😅
