Ford F150 - Changing Rear Differential Fluid in My 2011 F150

I decided to film the process of my changing the Rear Differential Fluid on my 2011 F150. I have never done this before, but decided to give it a shot. I am a contractor, not a mechanic... but I don't feel like it was a hard job.

Like 68 saiu do Brasil! Ótimo vídeo e bem explicativo. Também gosto de fazer este nivel de manutenção no meu carro, trocar o óleo do motor, filtro de óleo. Na moto também substituo o óleo do motor, limpeza, polimento e encero tanto o carro e a moto. Ferramentas diversas, com qualidade e conhecimento o trabalho se torna agradável com resultados satisfatórios. Parabéns, excelente vídeo. Abraços.

I'm no mechanic but do work on my own vehicles when I can, I'd say that was as good as job as if the shop did it. Good on you 👍

You sir need the m12 3/8” stubby . One of my all time favorite tools & I’m a carpenter that maintains my own vehicles. Fantastic tool.

I do have one, it is a fantastic tool. I could have probably used it on this to remove the bolts for sure. I wasn’t sure how hard they were going to be without having done it before.

I had never done it before, but it didn’t look all that hard. If I had a lift it would have been super easy. I’m hoping mine last at least that long 🤞

Nice work sir. I have the same truck and am not a mechanic either. However - I did both differentials, transfer case and transmission fluid with the help of Brian at Fordtechmakuloco like you did. I would love to see you tackle a transmission pan drop fluid/filter change. It’s super easy, and good piece of mind to know you’ve got fresh fluid in there.

I actually just had all that done not too long ago. Dealer did it because I was having an issue with my Lead Frame in the transmission. Luckily they had extended the warranty on it and I made it within a month of it being up. So they did all that when they replaced it. I did change the transfer case fluid too.

@jasoncharles6980 I had it done a little while ago, but I think they extended the warranty on that specific part to either 100k or 10 extra years. I was one month below the years and at 97k on the miles. I barely snuck it in 😂 I would be driving down the road and my truck would just start changing gears like crazy then go into limp mode

Great video as usual. My work truck is a F150 2007. I change my rear fluid every 30k. I switched to the Valvoline synthetic flex fill bags, 75-140. So much easier and you waste nothing. Also I use Fel-Pro gaskets. Tired of rtv gasket mess.

I do mechanics work when it makes sense aka easy enough. I have done that and transfer case fluids on explorer f350 and even a grand marquee (obviously no transfer case on that one). Things like brakes cv axels stupid sensors sure! When I see 4 to 8 hours of book time that's when I question how easy it is. Your so mythical and thata a good thing for diy but a mechanic has to be good and fast to make money. What engine does your truck have cyclone 2.7 ecoboost 3.5 ecoboost or coyote (please no 5.4 triton)? Great job excuse to use thoes tools and say "see I needed that 4th socket set 😏 ".

Mine has the Coyote in it. I really have started doing more stuff in the last few years. When I worked at one place all day (and had less stuff in my truck), I would just drop off my vehicle and pick it up. That’s a big pain now, so I have started tackling stuff I would normally pay someone for. It also gives me something to do while I have days where my schedule doesn’t work out due to something out of my control. I don’t do anything major. Mostly if I can do it without needing any tools that would not be worth buying unless I did it for a living.

I get it dropping off the setup ecnoline is hard and you do worry something is gonna disappear. The vans arnt much different than trucks except they use 2valve engines that go 100s of thousands more miles than that 3v crap. Good for you on the 5.0 still ford's most requested engine and people really spend up for it in new trucks. Most of the workmobiles try and keep setups modular in case we have to move on. When vehicles get into 300 to 500k mile range you never know but they just don't die till they do.

@@MattHmm-rq6dn I believe I will probably get a van for my next vehicle. That’s why when I buy stuff for my truck, I’ve tried to buy stuff that will work in any vehicle. (Packout, etc)

The nice thing that we use is a bed slide in the vans full extension. No one has to climb I'm the back of thr van but we kept the over wheelwell racking. For us tall people never crawling I'm rhe back of a van is a good thing. Don't get a tall van it's a pit and a windsail that gets bad gas mileage. We had a diesel that got 12mpg and was hard to drive. The feedback I got was can we get a express or econoline back. If you get super daring they can swap on a van body and you have a 5.0(not offered in van) 4x4 van. People pay 100k+ for that configuration 😆. Fyi in van form for ford until 2013ish they only offered 2valve engines that don't fail often and are basic and cheap to fix. I know someone with a e250 4.6l with original engine at 680k miles that gets 20mpg 😆.
