+Laitharex G'day...Easy answer...Dearborn Michigan wackers didn't want to be shown up by a country cousin..and in fairness the cost to convert tooling for fairly low volume RHD to LHD probably couldn't be justified ..Engine wise though the V8 would have been possible as the 5.0 litre base engine is the same I think.but the supercharger was Aussie developed for the Falcon...Our 4.0 litre inline 6 , not the American V6 , not so sure..To be honest I really like the FGX but I love the previous model more..the FG..That's why I bought one..Cheers Rod..

Ford Australia is dead, and has been for a while. So is the Falcon.

No it's because the American Ford wanted them dead. They barely had any funding and the cars were never exported. Ford corporate most likely saw them as a threat in America so it was discontinued.

Well, the HSV's are beasts, everything from the R8 up... but the SS is pretty shit performance wise, my 5 year old G6E-T still betters the current model SS performance wise before even adding a tune, and delivers better fuel economy with it - thow a few dollars at the Ford for a flash tune and some bolt ons and its not even in the same ball park - and if you just have to have a V8, the new XR8 really shows how wimpy the SS is as stock. Holden really should have done something about the engine, but they don't want to step on HSV's toes.

I know how you feel. I feel like the US car manufacturer's are telling me what they feel like I should be driving. Also their v8 cars are becoming more presented to a more wealthier class of people. They should have more cars like this available to more Americans.

you could do it, but you have to check to see if the car is allowed in the US ... and you'l have to change the steering over to left side drive.. thats about $10,000, and $10,000 to ship it over after you pay the $50k for the car... oh and there is the customs tax.... then texas state tax.... so you might have to pay $80k to $85k for a $50k car...

No, in Aus and NZ we have the GTR and Supra as well, except in the southern hemisphere we all know about the GTRs race pedigree (it smashed Falcons and Commodores, only Ford Sierras could get close) where the Supra has no pedigree. The Supra is really only on a pedestal in the US, where the GTR is an unknown. Mustang v Camaro, yes more equivalent.

Great news but a little bit late. My brother already bought the new xr8, but still can't bring himself to get rid of his fg f6. The f6 makes just under 380kw atw running on 98. The xr8 is very nice to drive and has much better interior but is no match for the f6. Even once the xr8 has had some upgrades I think I'd still prefer the f6. can't wait to see the numbers on the new xr6t
