How to change the oil and filter on the 7th Gen Ford Fiesta 1.0 Ecoboost and other Fords, Engine Code SFJK.
This engine is also fitted to the Mondeo, B-Max, C-Max, Ecosport and Transit Courier.
Where is the oil filter on the Ford 1.0 Ecoboost engine?
Engine used from 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020.

Do you have to tell the on board computer or reset it? My Fiesta is saying I'm due an oil change - 2.5 years and 10500 miles into a 3year deal. Figured I'd DIY it but will need to reset the computer

if you don't have a car lift the oil filter is really difficult to get to on jack stands.

Hi Viola, I’m not sure but you don’t really need a cup. If the filter wasn’t over tightened on the last service then you should be able to do it by hand, if not you can use a strap tool.

If you use a plastic bag when you pull out the filter , no oil every where

Been changing oil for years and never thought of that. I have a Ford Ecosport with 1.0L EcoBoost. In all years of changing oil on my own vehicles this is the worst one. Filter is up high on back of engine. Almost impossible not to spill oil down over the engine block. Or it drops down on the axle shaft.

I thought you where meant to fill the new filter with oil before fitting ? Is that just an old wives tale ?

Perhaps it is good practice, it’s something I’ve never been advised to do. On a lot of cars it would run straight out when fitting unless the filter is screwed in from the bottom.

I couldn’t comment from experience. I know they had some recalls on manifolds cracking but otherwise they’re an economical engine that really established the tree for smaller turbocharged engines in everything as far as I’m aware. Haven’t had to live with one though so have no idea what they’re like to own.

From what I hear the 1.0 Ecoboost 100PS is the best Fiesta engine to go for. Only 3 cylinders and there are higher power versions but for general motoring the 100PS is pretty good.
