I guess I lucked out after seeing several videos with miscellaneous parts failing and quirky things going wrong . My north american model 2014 Fiesta SE 5 speed manual , no problems at all so far after 85 thousand kilometers. Regular maintenance as suggested by the drivers manual . I replaced the battery and tires but any vehicle needs those things eventually so I have no complaints .😉

I have a 2014se and other than the clutches replaced at 47000 and air conditioning unit this has been a perfect car just oil changes brakes and normal maintenance love my green phantom

Right guys since this guide was pants I'll give you a quick guide right here having owned and worked on many 1.0 fiestas. First off, gearbox issues. If the car struggles going into first or second gear the gearbox synchros are on their way out. This is typically due to being driven hard in those gears. The fiesta is really fun to drive hard however the gearboxes are a good indication of if the car has been treated well or not by previous owners. Secondly, rear axel bushes and spring isolators. The later are a cheap fix costing around £10 for them both. These are the small foam-like mounts that sit between the rear springs and chassis. They deteriorate fairly quickly on these cars mine having been goosed after 30k miles. It took myself an hour to change on the drive and is an easy job for an amateur mechanic. Therefore these shouldn't cost much in labour at a garage. Another issue is the rear axel bushes which is where the front of the rear beam attached to the chassis. These tend to wear and and can cause vibrations similar to an unbalanced wheel. I have also changed these on the driveway but expect the job to take around 2-2.5 hours if going to a mechanic. You may have heard about the 1.0 Ecoboost engines being unreliable. However if treated correctly they will last just as long as any other. A few things to keep in mind. Firstly, the timing belt is submersed in oil. This means it is important that not only the correct grade (5w20) should be used but also the correct spec (WSS-M2C948-B) as this will keep the belt in good condition. Failing to use this spec could cause the belt to break down which eventually clogs the oil feed in the sump and starves the engine of oil causing irreversible damage. Just make sure the car has been regularly serviced by either ford or decent garages (check invoices) to ensure the correct oil has been used. Some earlier cars experienced head gasket issues if thrashed all the time but this is typically only when remapped adding extra strain. I have an early 63 plate car myself and have no issues. Best thing to do is check under the oil cap for any milky residue and also check the coolant to see if it's been topped up with water (will look diluted and lighter in colour) or if it just generally low. Hope this helps as this video was very basic and doesn't really give an idea of issues specific to the fiesta.
