I have a mazda and was referred to this from comments on another video. Even so, this was just outrageously well done for a video. Really helpful and crazy similar to what is needed for putting a mazda pan back on. Even though I have very little respect for fords apart from their 250 trucks, you are amazing and I have huge respect for you. Thanks to this tutorial, I solved my 2003 Focus' P0750 error and the car is back to normal. HOWEVER, 2 of the transmission pan bolt heads sheared off, and I had to drill and tap, which was very distracting and time consuming. Also, the Permatex is VERY hard to squeeze out of the tube, making for an uneven, jerky bead around the perimeter.

Really well done. I was just searching around to see if there were any other spots trans fluid might leak from after a solenoid replacement aside from the trans pan. It's a 2011 E250 but from what I'm seeing everywhere about the only spot a leak could suddenly appear after this repair is from the pan seal. The pan says reusable gasket...hmmmm

FordTech sorry for the late response. In reference to slip and engage to 3rd that is exactly what is doing. Then to add more drama to my ride on my way home from work I was going between 45 to 50mph the car started to idle high then next thing I know the a wrench light came on, and then my car wasn't cruising more than 30 to 35mph. Took it to O'Reilly AP had them hook up there diagnostic and there was no P0733 or any other kinda code. I don't know what to do anymore. As for the fluid there isn't any burnt smell, fluid coloration is fine, and the levels are fine. Thank you for your help and feed back I have learned a lot from your videos.

This was just an amazing video! Thank you so much for taking the time to be so thorough and precise on how to do this. I often feel like people will make car videos and they will skip steps just expecting people to know or be able to figure it out on their own...like initially removing the pan or actually HOW to seal the pan back up with a sealer. Simple steps but still, steps that require more researching if you don't really know your way around a car. It drives me nuts! Why watch a video to have to go watch more videos?! BUT! Thank you for your video. I have a 2012 Ford transit connect Fx 2.0. Question: by replacing all the solenoids will it fix the reverse too? Apparently when the car worms up, it won't shift into reverse. Or is there a different solenoid for the reverse?

any suggestions on if the transmission seems like it goes out of gear when accelerating. when you let off the accelerator it goes into gear and you can accelerate again.

I have seen some that will not only drain but flush out the lines in the cooler. What do you recommend? The Focus also seems to have a hard shift from 1 to 2 gear...hoping the filter/fluid change will help clear that up. Any chance a solenoid might be bad without a code showing? Thanks a bunch!

Hi. Thanks for all your great tech tips and videos. My daughter has an 00 Focus SPI. About 150,000 miles. Trans was rebuilt by the previous owner. I changed trans fluid around 120,000. Fluid is not burned. It slips between second and third but not all the time. Maybe only 2 or 3 times a week. Thanks for any info.

I have a 2005 Focus. while driving home I came to a red light, when it changed green I went to drive off and had nothing. I can shift through all gears but they never engage. I have no check engine light coming on. I do however get a long constant beep when I shift out of park. Any ideas of what I need to do

Do the solenoids controls specific gears? My 2009 focus shifts really rough from 1st to 2nd gear, then fine for 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th. Also don't have overdrive but have a few ideas as to why that is. I'll probably just replace all the solenoids because they are cheap but it would be nice to know which specific one is causing the issue.

I have a 2006 focus. I have a slow shift from 1-2, under light acceleration I can see it's slipping slightly (shifting at around 2500rpm, the rpms will rise about 200 or so then shift into second) . under hard acceleration it does not slip but the shift still seems slow at about 0.8 - 1 second. 2-3rd and 3-4th are nice and precise. The shift solenoid was replaced. could a damaged o ring cause the trans to loose pressure and shift like this?

I'm having a shifting issue with my 2009 ford escape. originally it wouldnt go onto reverse. So i put it in park cut it off then it wouldn't crank. I checked some forums and they said the shifting solenoid was bad. do you have any info on those?

Thank you for the wonderful video and the great detailed explanation, but I have a problem. I had the p750 until the transmission was totally ruined up in couple of months for my Ford Focus 2002. I changed the transmission with a used one but I have the same problems that I had in the beginning of my previous transmission. I had the check engine light on with P750 and P1000 in addition to smooth shifting at the early 10-15 minutes then the transmission starts to have delays in 1-2 , 2-3 and sometimes in 3-4 gears. The engine has some vibrations and while running after about 20 minutes when waiting in traffics the car start to have waving speed of the engine trying to shut down. The battery practically starts the car good but on exam it reads low battery. The alternator was changed before all these problems started 2-3 weeks after alternator exchange. Please, do you think the problem is in both transmissions, the old and the new or there us a problem in the car outside the transmission giving a false positive error P750 and causing all these problems?. Thank you.

Great video! I have a 2008 Mazda 3. I'm getting code P0753. The Mazda repair manual i have says shift solenoid A is the solenoid closest to the front of the car on the driver's side. Amy idea which solenoid is solenoid A on my car? Any help you can offer would be appreciated.

got a 2001 focus throwing codes: p0766, p0732, p0734. shifts rough and tends to drop out of gear then pick back in very aggressively. fluid is black with shavings noted, just need it to run as a temp vehicle so besides needing full over haul and new clutches and everything what solenoids can i replace to get it running for now?

My girlfriend's 09 focus, doesn't go into reverse when you put it in park in order for it for it to in reverse we must leave it neutral, and when it's in neutral i noticed that when I rev it it won't won't past 3k rpm, now when when we drive it it sometimes doesn't want to shift like going up hill this happens 3 days ago now my question is would the shift solenoid be the issue or is the transmission in need of a replacement ? This happend when she curved the car and it started acting weird. So if you could give me some advice that would be cool thanks in advance !

I have an '02 focus that has a hard time shifting into second gear. This problem is intermittent, and does not seem to vary with temperature. What happens is when it tries to shift from either first or third into second gear, it will shift into fourth for a moment, then slam into second. The transmission doesn't slip. Does this seem like a solenoid issue? There are no trouble codes when connected to a cheap obd II scanner. Thank you for any input you might have.

is this the same thing for p2709 on the ford 2006 fusion i have to change the ones on the other side of abc that"hardly fail" im getting the code twice might be two sensors so ima do all 3

1.) Is this the same auto trans on a 08 focus? 2.)Do you recommend a transmission flush on these transmissions if its over 113,000 miles?

2008 Focus automatic, sometimes it will not go past reverse. Turn engine off/on and it corrects the problem most of the time. Car has no issues with shifting once going. Does not happen all the time, very hit and miss? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I think I may need some solenoid work done on my 2007 Ford Fusion SEL V6 3.0L when it gets hot the slipping begins. But it only slips going from 2nd to 3rd, and sometimes from 3rd to 4th. I also noticed that when it is cold outside it shifts fine. But once it warms up, my transmission starts acting up. And it shifts really hard into reverse.

question about the shift solenoid, are A and B the same exact part or are they totally different? also same question to a, b, c, d, e are they all the same or each different, or is it the first 2 the same and the last 3 the same but set 2 and set 3 are different?

Can you help? I have a 2002 Focus LX & started to have problems after shifting into 2nd & 3rd & couldn't detect shifting into 4th at all & CEL came on. The code checked was P0750. Then, the next day, just before repairing it we discovered it wouldn't go into reverse to back it into the garage. Did not recheck codes (probably a mistake). Using your very well done video video we changed solenoid A, the filter & transmission fluid & reset the PCM. It now shifts into all gears smoothly & gas mileage has even improved (now that I have 4th). BUT! I still do not have any reverse at all! Any ideas?? I'm assuming the CEL will come back on. I have driven over 100 miles & still no CEL & no code (Even purchased my own code reader now.) How long before the CEL comes back on? Any wise advice would be truly appreciated - thank you.

I have a 2005 focus zx3 with 150,000 miles. I had the blinking orange light and super hard shifting in reverse and 1st gear (all other gears shift perfect), so I replaced the A & B shift solenoids and it fixed the problem for about three weeks and now the light flashing again and is shifting hard when going into 1st gear and reverse again. Do you think that there are greater problems than these solenoids or should I try replacing them again and see if that fixes it. Or should I try replacing all 6 solenoids? All 6 solenoids on ebay cost 130$ vs. transmission replacement costs 1000$+.

thanks, great video, got a 2010 ford fusion se 4 cyl gas recently got p0756 and p2701 one guy recommended a whole new transmission rather than checking electrical or replacing the solenoids im not a mechanic but may opt to try this work myself. we did a fluid exchange and a throttle body replacement before he found these codes

What's up. How did you diagnose the solenoid? I have an 05 Mazda tribute with p0750 that will not engage reverse. I don't have access to the factory scan tool which is how Mitchell has you go about diagnosing it. I do have a snap on verus at work. The car came in for spark plugs and exhaust, the p0750 happened while at my shop.

It is an automatic, It acts like when you are driving a standard and miss a gear but it doesn`t happen during shifting. It happens when you are driving at a steady speed. if u put 12 volts to the A solenoid shouldnt you hear a click?? im not hearing the click on either the a or the b solenoid, i also dont have reverse, but forward gears seem to work ok. any help greatly appreciated.

I have a 2010 ford focus and a coworker did my transmission service but overfilled it by alot. I didnt check and drove it for a long time untill one day it wouldnt go past 80, checked the oil and seen it was double of what the dipstick showed. Took some out and it does make the change but somtimes jumps up too 3000 rpm and doesnt want to make the change to its final gear (80km) its not throwing a transmission code for the solenoids or anything. Is it my internal clutches? If it was overfilled it could've glazed them if it reached up there.

@FordTechMakuloco I have 2006 ford focus. I parked my car well... Then put into drive mode. All going well.. Now its not shifting from neutral back to Reverse and Park... I removed the wire from gear box and moved the shift lever.. Its working fine. I tried to move the knob over transmission. Its only going two steps.. DRIVE AND NEUTRAL.. I tried to push hard to forcely move to Reverse and Park. I cant. NO DTC pressent for transmission. Please advise.

Hi ,very nice video. I have Focus 2006, 2.0L engine. I'm facing problem with the Transmission gear Box. It's starts moving perfectly (from 1st To 4th shifts) But when the speed reduced less than 60km once I'm going to increase the speed again the rpm increasing to the maximum without power it seems trans on N not on D. If I put the trans on manual mode and shift down to 2nd shift the trans catch the gear then i can go with 3rd &4th. Now I feel No power on the gears and torque lost. Is it solenoids? If yes which one is the defected?

Is there any external physical way to see that a shift solenoid has gone bad or is it only something you can see on a scan tool?

Will this throw a check engine light? From reading other things about a stumbling issue when switching from 1st-2nd gear around 2500-3000rpm this may be the fix, but my car is 2018 and no check engine light

Thanks for the info. I've got an '00 Focus with 120K on it. Sometimes after shifting from first to second, the RPM's will spike and the transmission is in neutral for a second before 2nd engages. It's smooth, and the transmission works great otherwise. Would that be Solenoid C?

I just bought a 2011 Transit Connect with the same transmission.. Has 130k; I was interested in your thoughts regarding the shift solenoids.. Would you change the common failure solenoids at this duration to catch them before they fail? Also, would you recommend using a manual oil pump to suck out the transmission fluid through the dipstick tube? Thanks!

My 2015 escape just started throwing the code p0657 for the solenoid will this do the trick for that as well??
