FWD cyclekart powertrain and Grand Illusion? Everything I need in a video all in 40 seconds, well done.

This is really cool project, but it appears you are using regular U-joints, which aren't constant speed, so did you consider this? Even if input speed (on that sprocket) would be constant the output will oscilate (sine wave). You could eliminate this by using two U-joints right after each other 90° apart, or use CV (constant velocity) joint. Like in "propper" fwd cars. You could get some axles from scrap yard, but those would be too heavy probably, so try find something from small tractors, maybe lawmowers?

Yep... I know it's gonna shake. Thanks.

@@kellywood6731it never bothered my Jeep having one regular u joint on each side. But I could definitely feel it. What did bother it is when I blew out the rear and had to drive with the front only. No traction and no steering 😂

I agree, large UJ's on a small, light FWD vehicle will be hopeless for traction and grip. Some small CVs would be great!

Looks good, brother. I see you're using a Peerless 100 differential or similar centersection. Good choice. Digging the Styx in the background, too.
@kellywood67319 ай бұрын
Thanks man. You know me... always building art. Yep, Peerless. Yes, I know it'll shake a little because of the normal Ujoints. It'll be fun!

@kellywood6731 I saw that someone was burning your biscuits over them, but they'll be fine. It's a cycle kart.

Ian Rouselle would absolutely love seeing this,. Can I ask Kelly, why did you decide to do this, where do your feet go now, and how many hours are invested? This REALLY is outstanding.

My uncle built a front wheel drive cyclekart back in the 80s so this is not “the first on this planet”

show me! I'll happily retract my statement. Seeing the Cyclekart originated in the 90's... I'm dying to see it.

@@kellywood6731 erm.... maybe the term "cyclekart" was coined in teh 90s, or a specific class of racing was dubbed as such, but i assure you the idea of strapping lightweight wheels and engine to a simple chassis is as old as the automobile itself... what was briggs and strattons "car", or flying buckboard? basically a plank of wood with a fifth wheel. sold quite well circa 1920 or so... sure, it aint FWD... someones done it. theres a big planet full of people out there... and on that note... whilst film cameras were reasonably common back in the 70s, photos werent as... commonplace. nor was live footage. then theres the loss of photos, negatives, the failure or inability to transfer to other media, or even the old polaroids fading and vanishing... i think of my old mates photo albums of what he was making in the 60s and i sort of cry as we dont have anything like that anymore. screw digital. even the videos and channels of five, ten years ago, gone, deleted, lost.. corrupted... i have no photos or evidence of anything i have done in the last twenty years. all gone. no point. nothing lasts. backups fail. data is lost forever. harddrives break down, become inaccessible. pets... animals... deleted two channels here on YT... disagreements with policies. screw them. yet i seem to have endless(digital) photos of just... nothing. cant get rid of them. still have the odd real film photo from the 90s. 80s. faded polaroid of 3 months old. nothing else. sorry for the rant. bare in mind "world first" is a bold statement to make. "worlds first publicly documented" is more apt.
