Yeah a mild H/C/I 3.8 make more power than most cars to admit for a basic push rod v6 compared to the OHC small small v8 Love the sound of the 4.6 gt but they make hardly any power

@TezThePez you can easily gain 40hp with a port job on the heads and intake, cam and stiffer springs. The exhaust ports on these heads are really restrictive.

Cool video man. The 1999-2004 Mustang's 3.8l v6 is such a good motor. It's large displacement for a v6 makes it quite torquey along with its high po. Aluminum cylinder heads.

Can I you please tell me how I adjust the rockerarms on a 2000 3,8 V6? I have one and I need to change the lifters but the problem is I have read through many instructions, some say you can‘t adjust them because they are hydraulic and you have to torque them down and others give instructions how to adjust them with turning the push rods and tighten the rocker friction bolts until they just make the contact. Could you please tell me what‘s the best way to do here?

Cool video - had my 99 Mustang six rebuilt at about 210,000, tried to limp home with a bandaged radiator hose - kept gauge from going to hot, but electric cooling fan had died - kept getting oil in the coolant reserve bottle intermittently - one thing I was questioning was the brand of parts - I have been told that it is best to use Ford timing chains, and saw videos of cheap chains - I had the experience with a bad rebuild on a 85 Chrysler Mistubishi engine - Action Cylinder Heads in San Diego area rebuilt this engine - had timing chain go bad after about 10000 miles - had to fight with them to cover even part of the cost of the obviously cheap timing chain used. Old timing chain wasn't noisy at 100,000 plus miles -

Did they soak the new chain in oil?
@appleimacdude
@appleimacdude Жыл бұрын
@@RidinDirtyRollinBurnouts don't know, I was very disappointed - my regular mechanic had used this firm for years, and they always stood behind their work. If they didn't feel qualified to rebuild the difficult Mitsubishi engine, they should have said so. Instead, it had to go back because at first it was belching black smoke badly, when that did not clear up after a short time, it went back - then the timing chain got noisy at pretty low mileage - and I had to fight with them to even cover some of the cost! I told them it they had gotten some bad timing chains, then they needed to take that out of their suppliers hide - I shouldn't have to pay for it. It wasn't a cheap rebuild, and I expected a quality job. By comparison, my 99 Mustang six was rebuilt by ARCE motors, a professional rebuilder in El Cajon, and though there were some hickups at first, a quality job was the end result.

Awesome. My brother is giving me a 2001 convertible Mustang with the 3.8 blown. Found a used motor for $930 with 100,000 miles on it. I figure I’ll go through the used motor before installing it. I’ve never done anything like this before. Only minor repairs like water pump, starters and alternators. Going to take my time. If I can keep the total under $2000, this drivable car will be cheaper than my most expensive rc car lol.

Thank you for taking the time to make this video. I have 2 questions. If someone could help me out, id appreciate it. I just replaced the timing cover gasket, and water pump gasket on my 04, 3.9l mustang. Now i have to replace the lifters, bcuz I noticed (it sounds like) one of them is collapsed. If i replace the head gaskets, will that interfere with the timing cover? #2, the engine has over 250,000 miles on it. The head gaskets aren't leaking, but everything else, IS. Im thinking about replacing all the seals in the engine. Im worried, if i replace the head gaskets, and the heads are warped, then it might cause other issues, right?

I replaced most the components, things like springs, pistons, and rockers can be reused within specifications. On The lower end, I did replace bearings and hoan and replace the rings in the cylinders and all the timing components, I just forgot to film it all because I was in a rush cus I was moving to another state. I might redo this video on another customers vehicle to get more in depth. If you look at one of the twin turbo f150 videos I go in great depth on everything lower end. First torque sequence is just to seat the head on the block. Then the bolts are slightly loosened and then re torqued to fully compress the headgasket and make the perfect seal. That's my guess

I just did that, on my 3.8l , and it sucked. Engine runs good, but I did make a few mistakes on torque, fuel injection timing and oil pan rtv sealant. I think that if I ever did a top rebuild again, next time there would be easier, but it was my first time and it was a definite learning experience
@charlesmckenzie7101

Ps getting the oil pan and timing chain cover off was a nightmare. Although putting it back together was a little easier. I believe when sealing front cover and water pump that sealant and a gasket should be used. I like using both to ensure no mistakes, although that engine does not have an oil pan gasket, so extra rtv is a must

Well if you did all the work yourself then it would be relatively cheap. About $300 to $500 for a rebuild kit and maybe around $100 more for fluids. I can't remember exactly how many hours it calls for but if you have a shop do it, expect to pay anywhere from $1,500 to $3,500 for a full rebuild. If you did it yourself you would be saving alot of money.

I thought when you rebuild an engine you need to add the additives so the engine doesn’t seize. At least that’s what my instructor told me in college. Ive never built and engine so I just want some clarification
@MechanaholicsCreations
@MechanaholicsCreations 2 жыл бұрын
Yes with new cam and crank bearings installed, it's common practice to add a zinc additive to help with the brake in. But as long as you have the proper oil capacity in it, it won't seize. I've never seen one seize from no additive added, but I've seen them seize from improper bearings before. Also use engine assembly lube when installing the components of the engine, it has a heavy zinc content already.

Man I've had a rod sling out the block, an 2 blocks locked up on me, you really should have replaced all your crank barrings while you had the motor out, I've messed up 3 motors all cause crank barrings, that's what the 99_04 v6 mustangs are the worst for! I'm in the middle of taking another mustang motor out right now an why ? Crank locked up I could only guess why bad crank barrings or a bad oil pump caused the crank barrings to not get oil, get hot an basically friction welded the crank to lock inside the block cause the crank Will Not turn at all..

More of a engine refresh then a rebuild.

You can't call it a rebuild when you didn't even touch the bottom end, but ok. Lol Good job reguardless but not a rebuild.

Not a rebuild, I have no idea what you did.besides lap valves. If you are going to rebuild, do it right. Terrible

I've searched all over KZfaq I've searched the Internet the norm of course is to take out a smaller engine and put in a larger one this in fact is what I did to my 86 Cutlass the V6 was removed and I installed a three-quarter cam 455 electric kickdown trance with stall and B&M shift kit etc. etc. yes this is the norm so let me pose a question search the Internet search KZfaq search everywhere and locate someone removing a V8 and installing a V6 3.8 L 232 CU. IN. Engine my problem right now is trying to find out information regarding 94-98 or 94-04 I own a 94 3.8 convertible Mustang the engine and trans has less than 400 miles on them and numerous other new parts when I found the problem so I'm trying to find a replacement to put everything in I can't find the information regarding GTs and their electrical system (are they the same) or can the engine electrical be removed and interchanged with a GT I do not want to get into major surgery I have other projects this is just my everyday car but I don't know if the basic electrical is the same as the GT electrical or should I just stick to searching for a basic 3.8 convertible you know the old saying in for a penny in for a pound I just got too much invested to call it quits but I just can't find the answers necessary to make this easier I've even tried calling several Ford dealerships they refer me to local junkyards explaining they do a lot of engine swapping this is almost as bad as when Oldsmobile created the diesel and within one year of ownership people wanted us to put gas engines back in I guess the point of my rambling is everybody and their brother has a KZfaq video on removing a V6 and installing a V8 engine I can't find anywhere where someone has taken out a V-8 and installed a V-6 take a look you will be able to find one because it's just not the norm S.W
