I agree that the MachE needs a heat pump, it would be helpful in my climate. Most of the competition in the class has one, so they seem to think its a good idea. The ID 4 doesn’t have one in the US but they thought it was a good idea to put one in their European cars.

We would even be happy with Class 1 1500lb. We just want to bring 200lbs of eBikes on the back. Maybe they can devise a proprietary accessory mounting solution like Rivian will deliver with the R2. -Producer Tim

@ 2:10 "...we sold over 5300 Mach-Es in March*..." Is that "sold" to customers... or Dealers / finance companies? According to US Ford dealers, they have about 9000 sitting on their lots, plus hundreds more "In Transit". Congratulations to Ford for finally fixing the Contactor issue which slowed charging speed and limited maximum acceleration, and fixing the Blue Cruise so now it actually works (for over 2 years, it couldn't even follow a gentle sweeping turn on the highway). Unfortunately the over 30 rubber hose "rats nest" under the frunk, which almost gave Sandy a heart attack, is still there. I like Farley and Ford, and hope they have success. Unfortunately their original plans to have both the Mach-e and the Lightning redesigned for better cost, efficiency and no losses in 2025 hinged on the new Blue Oval City being completed and operational, but now it has been significantly delayed, which is resulting in the current massive financial losses. Unless this spiffed up version improves sales by about 10x, the losses will continue. *That's a normal week for Tesla Berlin, or Texas, about 1/2 week for Fremont and a couple of days for Shanghai.

Sales figures are vehicles registered to buying it leading consumers. Ford has plenty of work to do in order to make EVs profitability. The first step is ensuring the product is desirable. We think the Rally Edition is an example of appealing to an untapped audience. Thanks for sharing your views. -Producer Tim

I would've liked to be a fly in the cabin while you dug into the muddy track. NACS "Coming Spring 2024" for GM, Volvo, Polestar…? Hmm. I must have my seasons wrong. 🤪 I like the Mach-E: would've been my 2nd choice when I bought my new (3rd) EV four months ago.

I agree - too few significant improvements after 3+ years of feedback & experience - do they even look at other EV’s? Rally edition looks fun. Where is NACS, heatpump, more charging/battery info, more range, dc charging capacity, v2l as originally advertised???

There is always more to be done in such a competitive space. We assume far more resources are being directed at next generation EVs at Ford compared to those required to the Mach E and Lightning fresh enough to keep the sales coming. Excellent overview, thanks. Big question is, how long will Ford continue to produce EVs given the substantial loss they incur on each one they sell?

All automobiles are sold at a loss until sufficient volume is reached. This is a universal rule. If Ford reaches the scale to offset the enormous development and tooling costs, they'll make money. They can speed it up by cutting middlemen out of various elements of their manufacturing and sales processes. We suspect they'll be producing profitable EVs by the end of the decade. Polestar and Rivian are losing money too, but both are publicly traded companies who have reported the expectation of profitable sales within two years. If they can do it, Ford can probably get it done. -Producer Tim

I find it interesting that Ford has cut back on production of EVs, yet, they just had their best sales month for the Mach e. These two facts do not make sense. Either EV sales are plummeting, or they are not. I think 2024 will be another record year for EV sales in the US and Ford's decision to cut back production will prove to be a big mistake.

EV adoption is slowing, but sales are not plummetting. Ford's F150 Lightning factory was doubled in size at the last minute. The move would have been smart if interest rates hadn't risen so drastically. They've had to match production to capable demand. Pretty much normal cycling of the auto industry...my local Hyundai Dealer (we drive an Ioniq5 and an older Nissan Leaf) has been receiving 2-4 ev's delivered every week and they are gone off the lot in days. Contrast this when we bought our first EV in 2022 when they would only get 1 or 2 a month...so not really seeing a huge slowdown here in ev sales. Great video - Thank you Cheers Mike 🇨🇦

There is still a start-stop button. Retooling too delete the assembly would probably cost much more than the simplification would save. That feature has serious scale across models and is probably dirt cheap. We suspect T3 and future blank -late electric Ford's will not have the button. -Producer Tim

@@MissGoElectric Good to hear you can change a setting via phone, then never press button when leaving Mach e. But, we may need to press that nuisance stop button, unlike other EVs.

I should clarify - there is no need to interact with the phone in order to lock it using the Ford Pass app. It is an intervention-free process by which the vehicle locks when the phone is far from the vehicle. This is very similar to what Tesla offers. That is a new feature this year. -Producer Tim

I've been a Ford customer for most of my life, but they lost me when I decided to go electric. There's only one ground-up pure electric car company of consequence in world and that's Tesla. I wish Ford well. I want to see them live on for another century. Farley has his work cut out for him. A 10% drop in F-150 sales this year doesn't help fund Ford's EV transition.

Did you know that the entire auto business (including gasoline powered vehicles) is down about 5% this year? Every quarter, EVs gain a greater share of the market. The Mach E is the second best selling EV SUV in the USA, and there are more than a dozen competitors. We are happy to see American automakers succeed .-Producer Tim
