1) you do not swipe to open the back you kick. 2) lane keep assist can be turned off. it is in the driver assistance settings as are other things you complain about. 3) the rear door will not smash someones fingers until you pull on the door as there is a kickstand holding it open. the kickstand retracts after you start to open the door. 4) the stiff suspension, speed, and braking is different depending on the mode you put the car in. whisper(eco) loosens the steering and reduces power, engage is normal driving, unbridled stiffens steering and increases motor output slightly from engage mode. 5) the frunk is designed to not only hold small items(without removing divider) as well as can can be used as a cooler. 6) the review car software is not updated for some reason. the volume gauge should be horizontal instead of vertical. 7) the divider in the frunk is not in the 2022 models. they put them in because the emergency escape button is non-functional in 2021 models. This will be fixed in future updates but to this day it is still not fixed. these are just a few things i noticed in your review. can't think of anything else atm tho.

With a family with 2 kids (one of whom is disabled) the boot just wasnt big enough. Saw the mach e was generally bigger so asked to swap. I used to own a Mustang GT(V8) -18 and now a Polestar 2. The 2 is faster and more fun but I miss the cold starts with the GT. The reverse lights is the worst part of the 2. The Mach E is larger and looks pretty good. I will stay with Polestar and hope they improve on steering feel and sports seats.

Just a note on the Mach-E rear passenger door. When the button is pushed and the door pops out a couple centimeters, but before opening the door, the door won't close until it's opened more fully in order to prevent fingers from getting pinched. That was on Jay Leno's Garage review of the Mach-e. Another cool feature is on the rear lift gate. We have an Escape PHEV with the same feature. When parked in the garage, the lift gate would hit the garage door at its largest opening, but, while the door is opening if you hit the close button two times quickly, the door will will be programmed to stop opening at that point. Now, when the door opens, it stops just short of the garage door, and when the door is opened where there's more clearance, you just push the door up to its maximum height.

It's weird to me that Ford placed an electric SUV under the Mustang brand. Like... as an SUV it seems great - it's comfortable, spatious, a smooth cruiser with good utility *BUT* , and that's a big piece of ass right there :v , as a *Mustang* - being the sporty brand for Ford - compared to the Polestar, I'd take the Polestar all day any day. So, as You've said, it's comparing lemons to oranges: they are both citrusy electrics but one is a sweet SUV and the other one a sour sporty sedan. XD

Thanks for a nice objective review. The Dealbreaker for me on the Mach-E was the low towing capacity (I own a camper) , I really like the looks, and it does drive well enough, it has a more practical interior and you can kinda see out of it. Both cars probably need lowering springs to look great, but with the roads around here the ground clearance is handy. It's funny that Robert thinks it looks a bit like an old Cayenne, because this was my sons reaction the first time he saw pictures of it; 'that looks nothing like a Mustang, that looks like a Porsche' I think with both the Mach E and the Ford Lightning Ford are being conservative on purpose to get people who aren't specifically looking for EV's to buy them.

You also always open the door then try closing it. If you press the button to open the door, you will NOT be able to puah it close u til you open it first. This is exactly designed in case kids press the button and put their fingers in the way. You missed this detail becausw you always opened that back door past the point that it opens on its own. They also did put the little handle on back door and did a test on it with humans. NO ONE used the handle to open the door so thats why they left it out

It looks like a decent car, and I certainly have a more positive opinion of it after seeing this video, but for me its got the wrong name. Mustang, as a brand, conjures a specific mental image. Regardless of the generation you know what you’re going to get. American muscle. A strong well defined car, with a lot of straight line power and a sharp silhouette. That’s not what this is. This looks like a good family workhorse. Something practical to take the kids out in, or to drive long distances for holidays. Call it an Escort Mach E, call it a Focus Mach E, hell call it an E-Max, but don’t call it Mustang. This feels like a dilution of a brand, by what should be a capable and celebrated vehicle in its own right.

I will never get over the fact about Ford using the trademark 'Mustang' name for an electric crossover. But my honest opinion is all about the Polestar 2 being a far superior option in terms of everyday drive-ability.

Really disagree on charge ports. Easiest from my experience is right at the nose like leaf, eniro etc. Quick and easy to park up nose forward and plug in. The argument about a crash causing damage is daft. Stop driving right up peoples ass. In front of the front door is the worst location as parking forwards can be an issue at some chargers, with the cable struggling to reach. Also need to walk a bit further to the charger to get cable, walk back to the port, back to the charger to initialise etc. The ideal location (that should be adopted as standard) is nearside rear like polestar 2 and more importantly tesla. As tesla rolls out public access to their network I would only now consider a car that would be compatible with superchargers. The mach-e certainly is not. wrong side for nose-forward parking, and even if it were on the off-side, its too far back for the cable to reach. You have now excluded yourself from probably the most reliable charging network. *edit* Forgot to add that the PS actually looks more like a mustang than the mach-e. i like both cars though but ultimately went for the PS as the PCP here in the UK is a lot more competitive. The balloon payment on the mach-e is much, much lower on the mach-e making monthly payments a lot higher. same reason I excluded the model 3

if you want speed look up cobra jet 1400 and mach-e 1400 prototypes. this ts what ford is aiming for at min.

@@rudyyyxu i know that is why there is only one of them. my point is this is their testing platform. they are using this platform to test future improvements to the mach-e. ford is still new to the electric business and the mach-e is a gen 1 product. i feel this is why they went to an suv body since a coupe that behaves this way would be frowned upon by customers. while at the same time extending the mustang branding to new vehicles.
