Hello, watching from Zambia 🇿🇲. Got a Ford ranger Wildtrak in 2021 with the 3.2L engine with the 6 Auto. Excellent vehicle no issues whatsoever. I also have a 2014 XLT Ranger with the same engine but 6 speed manual. I had the clutch changed, both front wheel bearings, and the tensioner. No turbo issues, no engine issues whatsoever. I have taken note of the things to look out for thanks to your video. Another thing the Rangers we get here in Africa do not have adblue and DPFs. Great video 🙌🏾💯

Just got myself the 2.0L Thunder version. Love it so far but I come from driving a hatchback, so it feels like amazing looking over everyone rather than up at everyone. Seems to be quite nimble when in S mode, but have been using the normal mode as no need for that.

Hi there, this is the second highest sellling vehicle ( full stop out of ANY vehicle) in Australia, behind toyota hilux, SO easier to call the reliability numbers here where they are more commonly used for what they were built for , probably a lot more than in the UK, i am sure. Well, like all cars, some are lemons, however mostly they are a pretty good bit of kit. My first 3.2L 6 speed was pretty much put through the paces, towing, off road and load carrying for about 25% of its 190,000kms , no issues outside of a slight engine oil leak at 103,000Ks ( fixed under warranty) then nothin else ever wrong. My second, i stayed with the 3.2 ( rather wait a few years to see how the twin turbo smaller donk 10speed stacks up) if ya dig it, buy it, like any car, u may get a shitter or u may get 300,000 + out of her. ( yes there are plenty of those here), definitely get a near nearly used one with about 40,000ks with an excellent service record and a genuine reason for being sold, if one of these things is a lemon, they usually display fuckedness early, if smooth and healthy at 40,000ks, then they should be good for next hundred ( my own experience based opinion only)- to me, getting a bit dated, but got great character, great fun to drive and capability plus. Very cool trucks, both washed and filthy

Great review but somethings I have experienced are rusty oil pan/sump there made from thin metal and horrible to change. They the newer ones snap front springs regularly. But the thing to be most aware of on the newer ones the 2.0 is the cambelt wet belt problem. They are meant to last 150k but regularly snap at 60k. They suffer with the same problem as the transit Ecoblue

Great video very informative I own a Ranger and honestly love it however the oil pump is very well known to be an issue, on both the 2.2 and 3.2 defo worth buying an upgraded one! As the oil pumps fail very common. I believe Ford did a recall for allot of them in 2014

Yep, mine went on my 2.2 at around 85k. Stop the truck as soon as you see the red light and at least the engine is saved. Sold her on with 120,000. Only things that’s went wrong from new were the oil pump and a broken coil spring.

Hi, from South Africa. I own a 2018 single cab 2.2 with a sixspeed manual. 153 000 kilos on the clock, and no problems at all. Rust is something we don't know about, dry climate of course. I converted my truck's interior to black from the original Ford off-white, by spray painting the off-white interior panels. The result is no glare in the sun inside the cab. It is my daily driver, so it is a work truck and not used by mom for the school run.

I’ve done 90,000 in my 2019 ranger, & haven’t had any problems yet. I have it serviced as per the scheduling. As I live in the sticks, I drive 3 miles on a narrow lane before I do any sort of acceleration, so the engine, gearbox & turbo are well warmed up, then a 3 mile low speed cool down before it gets turned off.

This week I’ve passed two broken down in live lanes on M5! One was in the middle of the Avonmouth bridge… we have one at work plus 3 old land rovers and the Ranger has had lights on dash, both front shocks leaking just out of warranty and a new add blue pump and various recalls! Out of all our trucks this has needed the most with the old Land Rovers being very reliable..

Upgrade water pipes all of them. Keep oil clean and only 5w30 full synthetic cauz oil feeder pipe to turbo is very thin. Keep an eye on injectors when they start smoking alot at start up even hot eng. Fit the water sensor in to the water bottle. For it only has one sensor in the junction pipe. Weld up the torque converter flex plate. C02 Mig weld.. Fit a bigger oil cooler to the auto transmission. These are the main issues I've had and repaired on these rangers here in SA. Take my advise or leave it up to you. These issues cauz complete engine failure and transmission replacement 😢

Hi. Thanks for your video. I own a Ford Ranger Wildtrack and I have the same exact problem at the moment. My car was bought brand new, and I only managed to get it to run up to about 74,000 km then a leak of the coolant into the engine, which I was even unaware of. I’m extremely disappointed with Ford; however, they’ve agreed to fix my car at a discount for most of the spare parts. In total, I’ll pay about $1,300 but my concern is whether it’ll be fixed to never happen again. What are the chances of it not happening again if the parts like gear box, EGR etc are replaced? Also, do you think it’s best to change the engine to a completely new one? But again, change it with what? I’m really gutted and want to sell it off once I get it back.

All cars rust and rot in UK, for most of us who don't experience rainfall and lack of sunshine daily the ranger won't rust. Even cars from the 70s are still on the road with original chassis.

To be frank in every country there are 70s cars on the roads. The problem is shoddy manufacturing. A 2002 Skoda Octavia with 400k miles on the clock and basically no care wont be as rusty in the UK as my 2023 Skoda Scala with 6k miles. New cars are made like shit.

I bought a brand new 22 plate 2.0BiTDI ranger wildtrak, after 16K mi, 6 months of ownership and just after its first service cylinder #4's injector decided to fail and cut the piston off the small end. The engine now has a large hole in the side of the block where the rod escaped and even took out both turbo chargers. Minimum waiting period for a replacement engine and turbos is a month. Save your money folks and buy an Amarok or Hilux.

Yes they mostly do, dont be afraid of larger standard vehicles, they get smaller and smaller as u get used to them ( couple of days) - i always reverse in at shopping malls, easier for a start and your set to leave like batman when you done, straight out, no worries of blind spot hidden folks pushin trollies, kids or clipping other parked ( or parking) cars. Rangers and the like are not that big and not that wide- but the long wheel base might mean a 4 point, rather than a 3 point turn every now and then, no biggie! , take the tip- reverse in tight spots, it will impress, but its easy

Do not buy one. Ford are better at marketing vehicles than building them. These are the number one selling truck in Australia (Ford keep harping on) that proves what great marketing Ford has. Ford are in the money-making business NOT the car making business. Pull a Ford truck down and compare the quality of the components and the engineering to that of a Toyota and you will see the difference. Ford’s are built down to a profit margin. Toyota are built up to a reputation. If you want a flashy truck and have a bag of money and plenty of patience with Ford after sales service (good luck with that), buy a Ranger or Everest or any Ford product (goes for GM and Ram, Dodge). You want a truck that works and with regular maintenance will last pretty much forever buy a Toyota. Yes, you do get the odd lemon with Toyota but Toyota will actually fix it.
