The company was founded in 1923. A year later, the first Model Ts were assembled in Port Elizabeth. Thes made Ford the first automobile manufacturer in South Africa.
The assembly plant in Silverton near Pretoria was opened in 1967 (according to other sources 1968).
Together with Sigma Motor Corporation, which at that time belonged to Anglo American plc and produced Mazda models for the local market, Ford founded the South African Motor Corporation (Samcor) in 1985. In 1988, Ford withdrew from South Africa for economic and political reasons.
Samcor produced car and commercial vehicle models of the Ford and Mazda brands as well as the South African version of the Mazda 323 as Sao Penza.
A source confirms the sale of the Mazda 323 under the Sao Penza brand name in the UK between 1991 and 1992.
With the renewed takeover of Samcor shares (45%) in 1994 Ford returned to South Africa.
In 2000 Ford took over the majority of the Samcor shares, which became the Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa. Since 2014, the Mazda brand has again been distributed via its own dealer network.
The Ford Ranger is currently produced in Silverton. In addition, the FMCSA has an engine factory opened in Struandale near Port Elizabeth in 1964. The units manufactured there are exported to 148 countries. The Ford Everest SUV is also currently produced in Silverton.

Let's hope they put the right paint on the chassis this time ,my 2016 is being striped to the chassis as we speak shot blasted and re paint as a good will gesture from ford but only if you know who to contact ,ford are crafty and won't put it as a recall there is a 10 year warranty on ford ranger chassis and even the Mustangs are rusting I have 21 plate curtesy Ranger at the moment and that is already rusting !

10:05 that will be why the bed never lines up with the truck body. See some older trucks in this vid. Some pre 19 models and one I’m sure isent even a pickup. Loving the raptors though! Carnt wait to start modding the new 22 model

David, I’m still waiting on my storm track ordered it last year.was told it would be here 1st week in august now it seems to be delayed again local dealership say current stage of production is “vehicle on wheels” I’m in the Uk by the way

Varias preguntas, no, es una mezcla de videos , entre videos nuevos y videos viejos, por la mezcla de modelos con distintas opticas. Otra cosa, Aca en la Argentina, tambien frabricamos RANGER y mejores, por que tienen el volante del otro lado, jajajaj

En realidad todas las fábricas manejar un mismo estándar y mucho tiene que ver hacia qué tipo de cliente están destinados acá en mexico están muy sencillas en cuanto a lo que ofrecen por lo que Toyota está mejor posicionada lo que es hilux y tacoma sobre todo tacoma muy imponente y hilux es una cosa indestructible!! Es una forma de decir que las meten al trabajo rudo

i'm not happy about how the staff look , some aren't wearing safety wear uniform. That is unprofessionalism displayed over there and it eliminates trust in what they're producing.

One of the most labour intensive production lines I've seen in a long time. It makes me doubt the build quality, especially looking at the rag tag army building these trucks, not one set of Ford work overalls in sight. If they can't be bothered to be disciplined on the minor things what are they like on the major things. The biggest shame here is that this is the factory that will be building the new Amarok, I think I will pass.

General assembly, drivetrain, feeding the weld lines, paint correction are all labour intensive everywhere.

Overall it’s not that bad. I still keep my 2016 Ranger manufactured in that factory and there is no assebly issues at all. The biggest issue is with nearly no rust protection of the frame 🤬 But as I can see on the market this is not only Ford’s weak point … I found a signs of corrosion on just a few months old frames of some other brands pickups … I don’t know is it by purpose ? I don’t blame the factory but rather the technologists in the HQ 🤬

@@pawezmudzki5055 If you're happy to bomb around in a 6 year old truck and sing it's praises then good luck to you but the rest of the world moves on to newer and better things and we hold the manufacturers to higher standards than those before us did.

@@deplorablebristolian It’s not about I’m happy or not happy to drive around in the Ford truck manufactured in that factory but it’s an objective opinion about the product of that factory. I’m not an expert in automotive industry to judge how the factory is organised but the final product is not bad as I expressed earlier and the built quality is average on the market. Of course we should get the highest built quality from the manufactures but most of them provides it on very similar level …
