Inspection time and I need to work on the cheap van. It needs brakes and belts, some lights are out and it sqeels all the time.
The Rotors or brakes discs are badly corroded.
The trailer brakes are also bad so we can work on them as well.
I have been self funding and relying on help with all the media equipment needed to keep the channel alive, if you want to help do so by buying me a coffee, this fund is for a computer able to run editing software to improve your viewing experience.
Thank you.

Well done again Simon. Here in the salt belt, makes things even worse on mechanics. Glad to see you continue to check things off your list before winter. Last month and my dead as a door nail thyroid has caused me to start smoking again. Atleast i get to enjoy a smoke with my coffee again. Waiting on an endocrinologists to call and im hopeful to get things figured out and get back to somewhat of my old self. Praying you get great sleep and rest. God bless and appreciate you sharing as always. Thank you my friend. Be safe. Hello Sara 👋

Howdy Simon- great job doing all the maintenance. I’ve had to do the same thing with my old work truck. The tension wheel does make a noise when gone. Had to get a half inch break over bar to get it off like you did. Thanks for sharing your day with us. Hope you have a great weekend. God bless

Hi Paul, I am not sure how long they last until they eventually seize and take the belt out but it is a relief once done. I see today the long range weather forecast for you is predicting a severely cold winter so get them jobs done while you can. Be well my friend and may all the blessing be with you.

Thanks for another ride along. I agree with you about the heat shrink, good stuff. Our weather here has been severe. Rain, high winds, lightening. At least I don't have to go out into it anymore. Take care Simon. God Bless you Sarah and Kasper. Alan

Like you Simon, I do my own repairs on my vehicles because it saves tons of money, and I don't trust someone else to be as careful and thorough as me. I've been burned by poor workmanship before and the only time I pay a shop is if a repair is beyond my ability or requires specialty equipment.

Same Matthew and it is for that reason I have no requirement for a modern vehicle with computers, if a man made it I can fix it, generally. I learned what limp mode was when I was in my teens I sure as hell don't need help with that. Have a great weekend and as always Thank you.

Hi Simon. A lot of work to be done to keep our vehicles safe on the roads, good job you can do that work yourself. Save a lot of money not giving it to repair shops. You mentioned grease on the trailer brakes. I’m pretty sure there should be an inner seal on the brake drum. I never saw being able to slide the drum over the bearings like that. Just a thought as to why grease is spreading onto the shoes possibly. Keep up the great videos

Thanks Dave, The inner seals looked ok but I may need to change them in the future, not driving with the brake on may also help!

No disrespect intended, however the uneven pad wear is because the the sliders in the callipers are slightly seized. split the carrier and grease the pins. The rear callipers are the worst design ever prone to seizeing. As always great work. Stay safe. Old engine oil painted on the under carriage will save her in the long run.
@matthewnasci2646
@matthewnasci2646 Жыл бұрын
I agree. If the caliper cannot slide freely on the pins it won't apply pressure from both sides, squeezing both pads evenly. I always remove the caliper from the bracket to inspect the sliders and rubber seals (boots). If rust found, replace. Reassemble with silicone based grease. Petroleum based grease is not compatible with rubber. Simon, you skipped an important step.

Thank you William, I agree, in fact I was surprised they were not seized solid given the condition of the rotors.

Boom . Number 1 . Brb.. sometimes them serpentine belts can be a huge pain in the ass. If you got it down and all the parts changed out along with it. Brakes you probably work a little better I'm guessing hope you pass the inspection and have a good day

Try u tube Simon? Lol for your serpentine belt and pullies. Do you guys undercoat your cars in Sweden?
@arctic-rebel
@arctic-rebel Жыл бұрын
Hi Dave, depends where you live, further south they use alot of salt and older cars need undercoat and much care. However; if you get a car from here or north of here they are in exceptional condition because we are either frozen solid or in summer just 2 seasons here and little or no rust as long as it does not sit in snow melt. Keep them high and they will last a long time. I have seen many 50,60,70+ year old car with no rust at all here.

The landcruiser is fine and running perfectly, I just don't have a use for this year. It is out of the barn because my Daughter has been driving it. She was born and raised in it and just loves to be in it or better still driving it. We have had it in the mountains, she can drive it there.
