This video just explains why using EFBs for cross country flight planning are more accurate and convenient for pilots. Thanks for posting

The time factor alone (as long as you understand the base behind the numbers) is a huge factor.

@@ClearedForLanding Exactly. As times goes on it's probably going to be hard to find paper chart.

They will always make paper charts.

Getting ready for my check ride, great video dude keep it up

Unless im mistaken, TOC calculation doesnt depend on airport elevation/altitude but on the PA (pressure altitude) which is airport elevation plus/minus altimeter setting

Thanks for making this video. I’m also a student pilot (pre-solo). Going to be working on XC planning in the next few weeks here, WX depending of course.

That's great! Gonna be planning mine in the coming weeks too!

Awesome! Gotta back that data source up! I remember on my IFR checkride the examiner grilled me on how I got the numbers etc.

I dont doubt it haha, gotta know what's behind it all!

Not a chance, most DPE’s will fail the electronics on the ground before you get to the aircraft, so plan on bring your paper charts and E6B.

Used foreflight for my check ride. It’s a valid source. This has been done for years.
@RetreadPhoto2 ай бұрын
Did they simulate failing the device, and force you to have a backup or manual computation?
@RaceMentally2 ай бұрын
@@RetreadPhoto nope. Honestly the DPEs in this industry is so grossly mis managed it’s bad. I had my first one discontinue for something he made up that wasn’t in the far aim. In writing. I filed suit on him and won in small claims for loss of wages. Wrong person to mess with. I run black and white and have the money to back up anything I need to. He’s lucky I didn’t take him to court for more as my losses were more.
@kurtreber9813Ай бұрын
Great. So it depends on who you get
@RaceMentallyАй бұрын
@@kurtreber9813 yes it does. My check ride was 45 min class and 1.2 hours in the plane. They want to make sure you’re not an idiot. I expect commercial and ifr to me much more strict and detailed. Honestly this industry is doomed and I might actually become a DPE with how bad I’ve seen it. I run successful 8 figure companies. This would be fun side work where I can travel the country doing it and stay busy.

Were you adding in half the gust factor for the wind and time calculations? That could be why FF was so different. If you planned 180@16G32, shouldn’t you use 180@24 for your calculations?
@ClearedForLandingАй бұрын
Very solid point! My numbers would have been much closer had I done that. Still learning, thanks for the insight!
