Those ramps on thw front of the buildings are mostly for strollers/baggies, granny shopping trolley bags and not puposely for wheelchair access but it can be used by wheelchair users too. Because most of these old buildings with 3 floors do not have lift access and there wouldn't be likey a wheelchair person living there even though there could be elderly ones with walkers possibly. But some disabled use crutches to go upstairs and park the wheelchair in the foyer of the buildings.

Thanks Sam. I am British and have lived in Russia before with my Russian husband and children. We love Russia and are coming back. We found a great quality of life in Russia so we know you and the other youtubers are for real. We follow you, Russell, Expat American, Sasha Meets Russia, Canadians in Russia etc and enjoy the reminders of what it is like to live in Russia. Thanks to all of you for providing a counterbalance to the western anti-Russian propaganda - someone needs to shine a light on the truth about Russia. Many westerners are woefully ignorant about Russian culture, history, demographics, way of life etc and some suffer from a peculiar arrogance that their own countries do not have propaganda. You show Russia as it is but for many people this is at odds with what they are fed in the west so no suprise you get these ill-perceived comments. Big hugs to you all from the UK xx

Generally, people that publish remarks like this have never made any attempt to get involved in the United States. In my view if your that withdrawn your not really contributing to the country to start with. I see a lot of comments like this on KZfaq, we have one of the most open and participative governments on the face of the Earth. If all you do is stay in social media on your computer in your home and make no effort to participate.........generally this is how you will feel about any government your under anywhere including Russia.

Of course, in any unclear situation, say that this is Russian propaganda. In addition, the Kremlin is so rich that it pays at least several billion people in the world. And if you need to blame someone, for example, if the light went out, a fence fell, the car’s engine stalled, a healthy tooth was removed, a thief broke into the house, you didn’t like the movie, and so on, then blame Putin or Russia for it. By the way, the Russians are so harsh that they elect the presidents of Western countries.😂😂😂

Very good video, but this goes both ways. Just as Russia has good places and bad places. The US has good places and bad places, yet I see so many Russians commenting about how bad the US is. One of the recent references I saw was “United States of Misery”. I ask them where they have visited in the US and they respond that they’ve never actually been there. They are basing their opinion of the US on the videos they see focusing on the homelessness. As a host of a Russian, I have great respect for Russian people and culture. I also know we are more alike than not and it’s time for us to see each other as common friends and not enemies, to realize each country has their positives and negatives, but this doesn’t define us as a people.

Sam, you should do a video on how you came to, or went about, learning to speak Russian. I have been studying the language for a couple of years, and though I could probably manage to communicate enough to get around, order food, get a taxi, etc., I would struggle to have an in depth conversation in Russian. It is, in my opinion, a difficult language to learn and become fluent in, but I am committed to doing just that. I would be interested in learning about your struggles in doing this.

When was the last time you visited the UK Sam? I immigrated to the UK 22 years ago from a country that had descended into chaos very quickly, and sadly I see the same happening here. It will take a very drastic change to turn this ship around now. I imagine many others, like myself, have been watching the Russian political and economical trajectory and know that it is a ship on a good course although perhaps not there yet. It is very courageous to pack your whole life and family off to a foreign country but as long as they have a solid plan and know it will be hard at first. Hard is better than having your children taken off you by a government that hates your God, your beliefs and just truth in general.

Local life in the west ruled by municipalities - INCORPORATION! You pay property taxes, business licenses, fines - and having this money authorities manage own corporation - they are INDEPENDENT and put orders to repair, or re-move the ugly properties.... If the owners of a property do not pay taxes - the property is arrested and sold via auction.... In Russia property taxes are symbolic (retired exempted from it) - and go not directly to municipalities but to the STATE. If a property is about to collapse - Russians will receive a new dwellings from the state FOR FREE!!! - The line for it is more then 500K families right now in the whole country....So people just waiting for such a gift and do nothing to improve their property

Empty grocery shelves or starving people. Non of that. The problem is with this conflict. You say we see some negatives from western media. Non of that negativity revolves around what you and your colleagues do. Non of it. They don’t show some starving people, angry violent people rundown awful buildings in Russia. So what do you mean? You people go on and on,beautiful this and friendly that. We know. But the conflict. Btw I don’t quite understand how the same people can watch a bunch of different people walking through the same streets, saying pretty much the same thing over and over and over again.Impressive architecture and attractive people not withstanding. Awesome video, great analysis. You are doing everything right. Here’s another argument - Russia is full of foreign tourists and they also shoot videos and then go home, and they also have videos with positive Russia. Somehow these videos of theirs don’t really fit in with Western media guidelines. They desperately need footage of Russia from the 90s (poor, dirty, in rags, without an army, with an outstretched hand begging for alms from the IMF, when a physics professor sells socks and buttons on the market, with empty shelves in stores and stuff like that) . But the experience of this period was invaluable. The Russians took off their rose-colored glasses. They, the Soviet people, were as hypernaive as children in relation to the West. The reality of capitalism quickly corrected their brains and they came to understand what the West really is. And they didn't really like it. And then the Russians were even more surprised when the moral values of the West began to degrade into real Satanism (and what should I call everything that is going on there in terms of morality and spirituality, this is pure Satanism). In the West they really think that Russians eat potato peelings and beg.

You have imparted some excellent advice here Sam for anyone contemplating moving to Russia from another country. Personally, the idea of you being employed as a propagandist by the Russian authorities had never entered my head. Your content is nothing like any of the propaganda put out by the official channels. I’m sure you are aware that the relative political stability enjoyed for the past 80 years by people living in the US and western Europe is now in turmoil to a degree, resulting in a sense of unease among many of the populous. I suspect that’s why there is now a greater interest being shown by people in making the move to Russia, you know, ‘the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence’. This, coupled with the fact that until recent decades Russia was completely off limits for westerners, has probably sparked the interest of many. As you quite rightly point out though, people should research, learn at least a bit of the language and have a few temporary stays, for at least a month at a time, before making the leap. Having worked in Moscow, albeit 30 years ago now, I can confirm that it is a completely different culture from the west or was back then. Some people will embrace it, adapt to it and love every bit of it and others will just find it is not for them. One thing I would like to question you on, and I am not having a go at you here, but you often mention that western media portrays Russia in a poor light. Whilst I agree that the actions of the Russian government on the world stage are firmly criticised, I have never seen any programmes/read any articles that are judgemental on the lives of ordinary Russian people. So, I don’t know where you get the idea that we are constantly being bombarded with anti-Russian propaganda. I know it’s now fashionable to knock the BBC, but I honestly cannot recall seeing/hearing any form of overt propaganda spread by them, regardless of what is said on the various social media platforms.
