其实开战斗机和客机基本上是两个工种。民航机长使用很多退役战斗机飞行员主要不是看中他们的飞行技术而是他们已经习惯了飞行并能维持一个稳定的身心状态。

我一个朋友在某航空公司的传媒部门工作，常常跟空姐和飞行员打交道。这家公司是在十多年前民航改组时分离出来的，比祥鹏规模更大。最开始招外籍飞行员，他们倾向于台湾、香港人，毕竟同根同源，语言不会有太大问题，然而这些飞行员尤其是台湾人，自我感觉过好，眼高于顶，跟同侪工作的态度有些问题，所以后来他们更喜欢在国外招飞行员，感觉专业度更高。 要培养一个飞行员花费巨大，国外可没有中国这样的民航学校，大多需要自己筹钱去学，从学开小飞机再到更大的飞机，挺不容易的的。

A brave move but then again when you are faced with uncertainty workwise in the US versus full-time work in China where there are lots of benefits that go with the job, China is a much better choice. Obviously, there are drawbacks which are away from her love ones and fewer friends, and the language barrier but she is doing well with her learning that I find Kimberly to be a strong and determined lady and that determination will see her through any difficult situations. She could also bring her two daughters to China to study. I am sure the International schools in China are very competitive internationally and with other Chinese students' help, they will probably see their grades improve.

中国现在需要大量民航飞行员，培养一个机长花费很多时间金钱，淘汰率高，人才很难挖。国外空军退役的飞行员累计飞行时长很多，技术好。

To Kimberly, “I Salute You !” and you are really well done. Keep up your enthusiastic passion for flying. Besides, I do understand how you felt in the beginning when at a foreign country, all alone, awaiting to receive your new job's task with a total foreign company and a whole clan of foreign colleagues and also knowing little of their language to communicate, knowing very less about their culture, the way the live, the way work, the way they think ... etc (and with many more unknowns). Coz about 8 years ago, I went through the same thing like you did, I'd got an great opportunity offered to work in Japan, with a 4 years contract tied. Thou it's still in Asia's region, but somehow, it does felt very remote as I had no idea what is the culture there, how they live the lifestyle, what are their mentality and worst, not knowing a single word of Japanese. It took me about 8 - 10 months to adept into their living lifestyle and understanding their culture and mentality. In their Japanese language it took me 15 months at least to communicate basically but still not fluent. It was a lot of hardships and exhaustions, but as time settled in, I was getting help by some friendly colleagues and other people that lived near me or in my daily proximity to struggle through the language, culture and understandings, and also the missing of my hometown, homeland. But once all these are “blended” in the daily life, slowly it'll become like a habit, like you're one of the normal people living there and not as tough as the beginning. Recalling back then, when struggling with the hardship, I'd indeed thought of surrendering, letting go or breach the contract.

前不久刚看报道，由于机长人才短缺，中国不少航空公司在高薪招聘国外的相关从业人才。
