Nothing more tragic than improving my chopstick skills only to find the food I like the most is eaten with a knife and fork in China.

I... didn't even know how to hold chopsticks until I was like 14 LMAO I have a distinct memory of going to Beijing once and upon failing once again to use chopsticks I just skewered a 小笼包 on one to eat it. I eventually got tired of everyone pointing out constantly that I need a spoon and feeling like a banana so I forced myself to learn at a restaurant using the instructions on the paper sleeve. ...Now if only I had the patience and discipline to practice my Mandarin more...

Im not chinese or japanese but my older brother always teach me to use chopsticks since i was a kid and now im not use to use fork or spoon to eat😌😌😌 not to mention my chinese friend suprise pikachu face when saw me holding a chopsticks instead of spoon or fork I do use spoon for soup or congee smtg like that But fork not really😅 not use to it

I remember asking my older cousin how to hold chopsticks because I was raised in America even though my family is Asian ..Yeah I learnt them wrong and after like seven years I told them and was like "you know you taught me how to hold chopsticks wrong" and they were like "I'm pretty sure it's the same" and held up their chopsticks knowing full well they shouldn't have taught me BECAUSE THEY HOLD THEM WRONG TOO

Heyhey here's a german dude who was born in Malaysia and spend the first 9 years there: I taught myself how to eat with chopsticks and now heres my question - I do not rest the lower chopstick on my ring finger but on my middle finger.... I can only eat that way and I just don't get what you do with your middle finger if you do not lay it down there.
