Do they really. I've been learning mandarin for a month and can speak the very basic you know. Greet, introduce myself, ask for most drinks, foods, and greetings so far and a native has never ever made fun of me or mock me. In fact they always have a huge smile on their face when they see a Hispanic American wanting to learn their native tongue. They never even correct me no matter how shit I say it. I always do ask tho if I said everything right and ask for help if they could barely understand. You do get made fun of tho if you're parents are from any Asian country and can't speak the language fluently
