Mr Shu, I fallow your video daily, I was very impressed to your post, very professional and you are a true asset of Japan by bringing a multi culture in Japan. Yes, I would like to do the same as Mr Ruben experience to own a property in Japan. But a don’t speak the language and I don’t know anyone in Japan to facilitate all my questions, would you possibly help me?

Hello from Indonesia. Congratulation to the new owner. I grew up in Ootaku, Tokyo. My parents former house was 10 min walk from Ookayama station. Ootaku is a great place to live. It is quite and accesible. And my favorite part of Ootaku is this big lake called Senzoku ike. A great place to spend weekends.

I have several friends living in Ota-ku -- this looks like the area around 西馬込。 My only concern would be the 新幹線, but maybe it's just background noise. The best area of Ota-ku (IMHO) is around Ikegami Honmon-ji Temple 池上本門寺. Also, check out the Korean BBQ at Panmunjeom 板門店!

In the master bedroom you could turn the one closet into a desk/office area with storage shelves. The other room with deep closet could turn into walk in closet or a desk/shelving area. like have shelves at the back of desk going up from desk height to ceiling.

We, my husband Tino, and I are in Yokohama just purchased a house. We are from California too. We have to get our key on April 8 and return U.S. right after. I followed the instructions to purchase from your video. We really appreciate your video which helped us so much. We have questions. We are retired couple. We only came here to purchase a house with sightseen visa. Is there any idea that we can apply kind of visa that we can stay more than 90 days at once ? (for total of 180 days for a year). We have house in California and rental property too. We bought a second home in Yokohama, but we do want to stay here little longer than 90 days every time.

Job well done, Shu. It looks like a decent house at that price in or close to Shinjuku, if I'm not wrong. I don't think it would cost more than $10K to make this house gleam. I'm waiting to be your next ‘Ruben’ ! 👍👍

This is a nice one for sure, I hope he enjoys it. I just have a hard time envisioning myself in most of these houses because of their proximity to their neighbor, lack of sun light and a yard and parking space. I have to be surrounded by nature so the city (for what I am seeing) may not be for me.

172k is a little steep, though the location of the house is pretty good. i guess it really depends on what one really wants to do. whether to buy an empty house in the country side for real cheap; to buy a rental property for investment purposes; to buy multiplexes at a market that gets the best returns and not necessarily at a town where you would want to live your self; or for some other purposes. me, i want to get a traditional old fashioned japanese style ryokan at a snowy ski resort town, muahahah

It’s alarming to me that so many Westerners are buying property in Japan moving there and then complaining about the culture and rules of etiquette they’re not use to. Why don’t they move to Korea or China? Japan’s culture is so respectful and the country is so clean. They won’t fit in and will quickly tire of respecting it - I’ve seen it time after time. 😢
