The orthodox churches teach great spiritual connections with god. Good morals but what I’m disappointed by the Rastafarian that live in Ethiopia they’re spreading the use of substances in Ethiopia. Specially the youth many parents are devastated. Before we don’t have a culture of smoking substances please, stop to let Ethiopian youth to get addicted. We are a poor nation we can’t afford to save them. Thank You

The sadhus in India smoke to help them meditate too. It seems like the perfect utopia...I have seen many similar places in India, neverending party with great music :) These kind of places are called Ashrams in India and they are usually started by some guru, a spiritual teacher or master who in this case was apparently Haile Selassie. I wonder if he was smoking too? The vibe of Shashmene somehow reminds me of Chefchaouen in Marocco, the name seem very similar too :)

Haile Selassie himself had nothing to do with Rastafarian beliefs, he was an Orthodox Christian. This belief started in Jamaica. From what I understand, when the emperor went to visit Jamaica, it rained for the first time after so long, so the Jamaicans started to believe emperor Haile Selassie was the reincarnation of Christ.

The emperor's name was Tafari Mekonnen. Ras was his title, as in head or ruler. These guys don't have the same religious views as majority of Ethiopians but still they're respected. I think that says a lot about Ethiopia's acceptance of diversity. A variety of religious beliefs, cultures, races living together peacefully. It's just sad what's happening in recent times.

In order to get out of poverty a strong well programmed youth is the future of the country. So all I want to say to the Rastafarian please, do not teach Ethiopian youth to smoke substances it’s not our tradition it’ll not help to cultivate a productive society. I think it’s your responsibility to as beneficiary of the Ethiopian kindness for you to live there. The least you can do tell the youth not to be addicted to your substances. Before you came to Ethiopia it was not a thing to use substances now we hear how devastated most families are their children become addicted. Trust me if you don’t stop this one day our friendly society will hold you responsible and turn against you. Please, please, and please do not let Ethiopian youth to use your substances. Rasta would never dare to disrespect and call Ethiopia a third-world nation. Most Rasta are not rich people, and most of them come from poor backgrounds, too. The way they reached Ethiopia was through organisation and productivity - is it not hard for a poor person to move to other countries? Marijuana is big business, and nations worldwide are decriminalizing and legalizing its use, seeing its benefits. Marijuana addiction is a lot less than alcohol or tobacco, but you choose to ignore that. Someone mentioned khat... You're obviously not very educated about marijuana, and that's probably the problem with how it's used. Making "ferenjis" responsible for domestic issues? Imagine if countries did that to the Ethiopian diaspora? Ignorance and a lack of education is an issue, and when it comes to this herb, your comments make it clear that you're not very educated about it and are promoting that ignorance. THAT is what endangers youth and makes them get issues. Rasta does not promote drug addiction. You might be concerned, but you're also highly opinionated and obviously not very knowledgable about this topic. Educate yourself (and the youths you claim you're so concerned about) and come again.
@Xestra37490
@Xestra37490 2 жыл бұрын
@@SamsonBenji well I’m blessed as Ethiopian not to depend in substances. Your enlightenment about marijuana definitely enrich our lives:-) so keep it in your wonderful culture which I have respect for in Jamaica. We all want to hold what’s true for us. What I sincerely believe for me may not hold true for you. the society I dearly concerned about and want to protect is Ethiopian. I understand in western countries starting to legalize it as some still fighting against it as they fear the consequences of the substance. You might want to call it organic, generates revenue…I don’t want Ethiopian to be empty head couch potatoes. We’ll continue to educate our people and fight against any kind of drugs and human trafficking. I hope soon there’ll be a movement against drugs and heavy punishment by forcing the government through public initiatives. It hurts to hear families crying everyday how their children are addicted and embarrassed to talk about it. They’re afraid to be shunned by other families and society. I’m telling you what I know about my people. I’m not concerned about you! 🙏🏼💚💛❤️

@@Xestra37490 Substance abuse has little to do with your nationality. You claim concern, yet you try to belittle people who actually know about this. Which is worse? Tribal war and destabilization or a bunch of youths getting together to light it up? You echo the racist reefer madness propaganda of the West. Lazy? Couch potatoes? Stereotypes that have been proven wrong time and time again. I've smoked herb in Ethiopia - it's not even that strong in international comparison. I know I'm not going to change your mind. Figuring you have substance abuse issues close to you, family maybe. Well, I wish you well.
