You might want to look up the Sun God in Hindusim. The Sun God is travels in a chariot driven by seven horses. This represents: The acronym VIBGYOR (Violet-Indigo-Blue-Green-Yellow-Orange-Red). Just wanted to say one thing. When you are trying to understand about Hinduism, don't take all the mythology and the stories in a literal manner but try to understand the deeper meaning. Hinduism depicts everything in the form of pictorial representations and stories in order to interpret complex things in an easier way. For example Hinduism says Brahma is the creator of the Universe and Shiva is the destroyer. So it wanted to convey the energy that creates something and the energy that destroys something. So people from a different religions get confused that we say there is only one God but we are mentioning So many Gods. But this is just to break it down to make it simpler. You can take things literally in few religions like for example in Islam, they take everything that is mentioned in Quran literally and say whatever it says is the actual thing and the only truth. There might be no need to dive deeper. Same thing might go with Christianity as well. That is why the practices might not go hand in hand with Bhagavat Geeta in Hinduism. Geeta says God has no form. But we represent Gods in different forms so that we can remind ourselves and focus on particular qualities when we worship a particular God. When we worship Lord Ganesh, we think about qualities like Wisdom, knowledge and concentration and when we worship Lord Hanuman, we think about qualities like being brave, fast, energetic and devotional.

Born a Hindu, but living like one (not even close) is not an easy task - soooo much has been left to us to learn, understand and develop 🎉

Why Nalanda University was destroyed?  Out of jealousy, Khilji ordered to set fire to Nalanda University. It is said that there were so many books in the university library that it kept burning for three months. Even after this, Khilji's mind did not calm down. He also killed thousands of religious leaders and Buddhist monks of Nalanda.

If you read the story of 'Noah' in Bible, it is very similar to the first man in Hinduism called 'Manuh'. Lord Vishnu took first incarnation of Giant Fish and asked Manuh to gather the all species and saints near the beach and then Giant Ship will come and Giant Fish will take them to new era. The only difference in Noah story is that there is no Giant Fish. You can see video and movie about 'Dashavatar' (story of 10 Incarnations of Lord Vishnu).

I'm form India and being an Indian I would like to tell you that there are a lot of texts in Hinduism which tell about life and time. Do watch them and these texts were written 1000s of years back when the world was unaware of universe. A lot of things which are getting discovered now were already written in ancient Hinduism texts.

You guys are doing such a marvelous job that many Hindus themselves can get educated too because, in the last 1300 years, one type of invader came and burnt libraries, especially the big Nalanda Library of more than 9million manuscripts which lasted for 3 months according to some conservative estimates of the West (just Googled it!) and another type of invader came, introduced caste system and dismantled the oral indestructible Gurukul education system replacing it by Macaulay education, making the poor guys force throw all their scriptures all over the world. What you are doing is a great service which Indians must do for themselves, like the Chinese, but aren't! Kudos to both of you guys! Long live both of you!

At 11:00 just a correction it's not that we made pur theories of own after seeing what science has developed or prooved...we actually have proofs of the writting to be older than one could imagine and it's not by accident that science has prooved universe to be same as our theory and beliefs (it is possible though scientists secretly read our texts and then come our and say heyy we found something 'new') Basically, our scriptures are old , we have proofs for them .

I am from Nepal and born as a Hindu. Hindu is religion of free thinkers. Who don’t subscribe to a single authority or a book , it has various sects, philosophy and faiths . Their is no one single code to be followed. It center concept is that physical bodies are temporary but soul is immortal and know thy self . Seek and enlightenment yourself. Creation theory is light and material. Material existed not created only exposed when lights fall on them.

The holy trinity of Hinduism is supposed to be the 3 manifestations of a single cosmic energy. So I don’t think there’s any contradiction here with the western thinking of one energy creating the universe.

Explaining Shiva to a western person is a little bit difficult. When we say Shiva - The destroyer, for someone outside of Hinduism gets confused because how can one who destroys life be considered as God? Death or destruction in Shiva's terms is also the new beginning. Without destruction there is no creation, hence the trinity Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva (Creator, preserver and destroyer) are worshipped. Hinduism is also a symbolic religion with beautiful idols, pictures, thousands of gods, demigod etc which are all intended to explain deeper philosophies using art for a lame person representing different aspects of the one absolute truth.
