Khema Theri was appointed by the Buddha as the foremost of all bhikkhunis in wisdom. This is her story.

Inspiring! What I've learnt: The Lord Buddha was a phenomenal teacher (the greatest one) and if we read or listen to the Dhamma, truly listen and hear it with an open, clear mind, we can attain the goal of Nibbana. May all be well and happy. 🙏🙏🙏

Due to many lifetimes of spiritual development, and with the help of the Buddha, Khema was able to release her attachment to her body which is foul, impure and prone to decay, and death. Everything that we desire in this world leads to suffering. Thank you again for another thought-provoking Jataka story.🙏🙏🙏

I am glad that Watsanfran shared this story. I have heard about the great disciples named Sariputta and Mogallana but not the same about the nuns. In Bodhgaya, they have also built up statues of the popular disciples(monks) of Lord Buddha (80 ft statue) but the statues of the nuns are missing. It's extremely important to understand that all human beings are capable of becoming enlightened, be it male or female. I am so happy that this jataka is uploaded on KZfaq. So ecstatic, can't even convert my feelings into words.

Oh what a beautiful story!! The story of Khema Theri inspires us all that no matter how much our minds might be filled with the defilements (like vanity, etc), if we practice right effort and mindfulness we can free ourselves from the bonds that attach us to samsara and attain the ultimate Nibbana. May we all achieve that ultimate peace that Khema Theri achieved! Sadhu Sadhu Sadhu... Thank you, WatSanFran for all your videos. These teachings heal our hearts and bring joy to so many. ❤

Can a householder reach Arhant by practicing Dhamma ???

I think orignally heard the story it was like Khema joined the order of monks and than become and Arhat after practicing for a year. Which is still very quick.

Is it true that an arahat will die immediately if he/she not ordain?

Once attaining "Arahanthood" one must become a Bikkhu within 7 days. This is because the body of a layperson cannot "bear" the energy associated with an Arahant.

no on can become arahant by discourses, to become arahant one must practice vipassana.

@@atrudokht I don't praise religion, but the one true God only and His holy word, which guides us to eternal life with Him. There are MANY false gods. He doesn't take away our free will to choose, but the others lead to eternal separation from Him and agony.
