This was awesome! Thanks for these videos. I just got my fingerprint brush and powder in the mail today. I have to dust for prints from porous and non-porous surfaces for an assignment in my criminalistics class.

This was fascinating! Somehow I thought fingerprints were old school and not used anymore... the video was very good. Why do other "experts" show loading TONS of powder and then removing? I am going to get some supplies and use it to teach my kids. Very well done.

Smile S there are a few. Depending on where you are from will determine if you need to be a certified officer or civilian to process crime scenes. I would suggest studying forensic science. Then you can branch out into different aspects of crime scene Processing.

Raw files keep you from losing picture quality as you open the file, like would happen with a jpeg. The loss is minor but, for something like a print where the little details are important, it can make a difference.

Hi Ilve outside US. And thieves entered to my house. Police in my country is very corrupt. Could you please help me to search fingerprints . Idon't have the raw material to do it or to buy it. Could you please tell me if we can make a search with baby powder, and what method can I use to take footprints from carpet. Thanks in advance Best regards Nestor Flores

Gonzalo Néstor Flores Cevallos Thatbis a tough one. Without the materials it will be difficult. You could cotton and ground up charcoal. The charcoal would have to be very fine. You could lift them with regular tape. For footwear, use side lighting to locate them and then I would take a picture of them with the side lighting you would really need a dust lifter for those.

Thanks for the promt response. I really appreciate it. I will try to follow your advice... I have two more questions:To find and lift fingerprints in painted walls Do I have to use a UV flashlight and once found it use the charcoal ?, While I request a dust lifter from another country, In the mean time, should I cover with plastic the floor carpet, in order to preserve the possible footprints?. I have finger prints on my car that are 18 months old, but still clear as day. Could these still be used? We know exactly who they belong to.

I have no idea or reason why I watched this video...but it was interesting. I was a bit tilted that he kept working in the mess he made with the powder and didn't clean it tho..

myhumbleascension I agree. The mess got on my nerves and kinda ruined the rest of the lesson for me by getting powder on all the lifted prints. It really wasn’t necessary to demonstrate the mess in my opinion.
