Mythos & Logos – World Mythology and Religions

Күн бұрын

The Japanese Ministry of Forestry promotes mindful time in nature, called forest bathing, citing health benefits for those in urban environments to spend time in the natural world. This video explores the deep reverence for nature at the heart of Japanese culture, through the lens of Shinto, Japan's indigenous religion, and traditional folk tales. I spend some time in nature to try forest bathing for myself, and share the experience, results, and connections to traditional Japanese culture.
Mythos & Logos are two ancient words that can be roughly translated as “Story & Meaning.”

I absolutely love this and it’s so true, you’re recharging your body and mind. This can also be true with recharging your relationships or taking a day off work to recharge your mental health. Very impressive and love the sites and your adorable dog.

Thanks! It’s not the most dramatic place in the world, but I love the hills and woods of the area. I’m glad that I could communicate a little bit of what made it such a nice forest bath for me :)

It's quite a serious thing to ponder, that big cities and urban life is documented as something that increases mental health issues for people. It seems obvious in some sense, that they are "unnatural" environments for us, but it gives a bit of pause that they are actually not good for your mental health.

It’s mind-blowing to me just how much of human history was spent in small nomadic tribes. Our modern life is typically set in one place, but with exposure to a connected world of events. It’s very different, and it really is important (if difficult) to consider how we have adjusted to our new world, and how we might realign it to the natural one.

@@mythosandlogos So true! It's really one of the big "take a huuge step back", and let's look at how we live and what has happened to the human environment over the last 10,000 years. We might have an unprecedent opportunity to recreate conditions that are much more joyful, beautiful and healthy now, and shape something completely new at this point - somewhat ironically because of technology!

Always drawn to spend some time outside every day. Working the earth gardening, walking barefoot or just sitting observing. So drawn to water that i had a small childs pool to splash in when due to an auto accident could no longer swim
