Forest of Dean MTB - The Best Trail Centre in England?

We went on a day trip to the forest of dean! Drove 3 hours to 'FOD' to ride their downhill, enduro and flow trails. This was my first time back at the forest of dean in about 3-4 years, luckily i had Sam to show me around... The tracks didn't disappoint!

You mean that line of 4 next to the fireroad? they were really weird to be fair, first two are short and easier to clear and then the last 2 are long and hard to clear... seems like the speed is a bit off for them, but am not complaining haha!

Bro its a sick spot for sure, if its not too far from you then i'd defo recommend it! Loads of awesome tracks there (we got unlucky coz they closed a load due to the foresty work)... but yeah got a cool bike shop and cafe too 😎

Sick video man. I loved the trails at FOD but the climb back up ruined the day for me. Great for sessioning but not full runs, unless you have Emtb power

if you don’t take the left and go straight up the hill towards the top of launchpad then take another left halfway up the hill it’s less than 10 minutes. can probably find it on strava somewhere but defiantly a life saver

I'm lucky that I live right by Afan Argoed and Bike Park Wales. But I always have a much better time in FoD. Those spider web roots are a nightmare in the wet and ice! Think the last trail you rode has everything you need for really good progression even though I'm nowhere near good enough to do the jumps and gaps. BPW now feels like it just wants to empty your pockets, FoD just wants you to enjoy yourself.

Think you hit the nail on the head there bro! BPW is defo fun but i can't afford the fuel and uplift cost! Never been to Afan, but looks cool. And yeah that last trail is defo awesome, wish we had more time there... will have to go back i guess haha! Thanks for watching man :)

@@willgreenfield No worries buddy. It's mad to think that when BPW opened it was £4 for a pedal pass and £23 for an uplift! Now look at it! The uplift at FoD is better anyway. When you speak to the owner you realise how much money is made on a single uplift bus. All the best with Spesh. I've got a 2019 Kenevo Comp. Pity about the tiny battery and short reach and the damn Fox Van coil instead of the Ohlins!

Are you pulling the rear brake to get the front end down on jumps? Never noticed it on your vids before but looked like it on the first few jumps!

yeah i braketap a lot on jumps i've never ridden before now, because i don't know the right speed or amount of pop i need, so i pull up and then braketap to bring the front down depending on how much airtime i need to clear the jump. Normally it works really well, sometimes it can be a little sketchy but it works for me, especially when hitting jumps for the first time :)

@@willgreenfield ah nice! I’ve never tried it but my bad habit is over jumping and landing back wheel so might give it a go 😬currently my remedy is just going to slow and depressingly land on the top of the table 🤦‍♂️😂

@@ADanandHisBike if you're going to try it i definitely suggest doing it on a smaller table to start with, and the first time you do it tap the brake quite late, so that if it does bring the front down too much, it doesnt have enough time to be dangerous ie causing an OTB... other than that definitely a fun skill to try :)

Thank you Tim! And It's a 3d printed cable tie gopro mount i bought off ebay... wasn't made for this specific helmet but luckily it just about fit onto the chin area...
