It's always fun to see people experiencing "The Kings of Harmony" for the first time. Their group name is a mixture of "forest" and the Latin/Italian word "stella", which means star. So Forestella means a forest of stars. Their names from left to right in this video: Ko Woorim (classically trained basso profundo), Kang Hyungho (countertenor and rock voice, no vocal training), Cho Mingyu (classically trained tenor and leader of the group), Bae Doohoon (musical actor). This was from a competition show called "Immortal Songs". The motto of this episode was "Time travel", and so a song was chosen whose roots go back to the 17th century. It was revived by Simon & Garfunkel. Forestella sing all kinds of genres and in many languages. They are my favorite vocal group. They have covered Queen songs, Ed Sheeran, Lady Gaga and many others. Some recommendations: Lazenca - Save Us (rock opera), Bohemian Rhapsody, Hijo de la luna, Je suis malade (you already know Lara Fabian's cover), Spread Silk on my heart, Inner universe, Time in a bottle, Nella Fantasia and of course their own beautiful songs like "Save our Lives" (the music video is a cinematic masterpiece) or "White Night". They have sung over 100 covers and several originals. Take your pick. Every performance is exceptional and all sung in front of live audiences except for their original music videos. Of course you can find live versions of the original s as well. They were crowned king of kings 6 consecutive times on the immortal songs King of Kings special competitions. They are the best of the best! Amazingly talented and creative members shine individually and as a group. They have given me incredible joy for the past 5 years. The one with the high vocals is Kang Hyung-Ho. Before the show that formed Forestella, he was a Research Chemist, who sang part time in a Rock band. As you pointed out they are not actually a Kpop group, they are a vocal quartet, with 2 of them are trained opera singers (one of them is bass singer), one a musical actor & one is also in a rock band (who can also sing counter tenor). Forestella are a crossover group not a kpop group, they sing a variety of genres but they are also made up of 2 opera singers,a rock singer ( with a soprano range) and a musical actor. So their voices also crossover genres.

They sing in multiple languages perfectly and add their own touch ❤

Forestella is absolutely my favorite group, hands down, musically incredible talent. I have listened to the a cappella groups, and they easily could do that as well, but I am glad they didn’t. This will be a very enjoyable journey.

Scarborough Fair is from old English folk song. Simon&Garfunkel version is the most famous as far I know. There are some stories about this song Scarborough Fair..what I've read was this is a song from a ghost (soul) of a dead soldier. He asked the herbs growing on his dead body to deliver his message to his beloved girl in Scarborough Fair where was a big herb market. He asked the herbs to tell her impossible task "Tell her to make me a cambric shirt without no seams nor needle work" to make her give up waiting for his coming back as he's already unable as he's dead. Forestella sang like as messengers of this sad and beautiful story. Also there are symbols those herbs significated: parsley for comfort or to remove bitterness, sage for strength, thyme for courage, and rosemary for love. There's some speculation that these four herbs were used in a tonic of some sort to remove curses. What I first heard was to remove memories..so I thought he (the dead soldier) wanted to remove the memory about him from his girl to make her not mourning for him anymore. BTW I found those herbs cannot be grown in the same areas in fact while on my researching English references.. so it could be just for remembering the recipe for turkey seasoning ingredients, too.

I highly recommend Forestella Queen's best songs compilation video on KBS Jeonju channel. Well, it needs filters on like blur or transparent to avoid the copyright block as it's from Korean broadcast TV shows. (FYI JTBC is more strictly copyrighting than KBS tho.) Maybe you would find Forestella Mystique encore concert live version Bohemian Rhapsody on Universal Music Classics channel, it's less copyrighted but it's very dark so hard to see their face expression in the performance. Hence please consider to react to Forestella Queen's best songs video which includes the very first performed Bohemian Rhapsody by Forestella in Immortal Songs, the same show they sang Scarborough Fair you are reacting to. I checked your playlist and saw your reactions to other artists, I think your best cover on Bohemian Rhapsody can be updated ;) Forestella sang Je suis malade in French, I saw your reaction to Lara Fabian's version. Please watch it again before watching Forestella's version to revival your memory. (Same for Bohemian Rhapsody better check the original and see Forestella's version..) BTW I like that the people confused Forestella like as Kpop idols and getting surprised at their vocal prowess lol. Actually they can sing everything including Kpop, but I think you would love their covers in rock-opera style like Sweet Dreams, Warriors, Lazenca Save us, Legends Never Die, etc. And I'm curious of your thought about their original songs like Save our lives, UTOPIA, and Snow Globe. Forestella is not a Kpop group and never was. they would have got a lot more recognized and appreciated if they'd gone down to the Kpop path. they are more of everything and can actually sing everything in literally all kinds of music genre from classical (2 of them are classical singers if not mistaken) to pop. they can sing in many different languages from Korean (their native) to English, Italian, French, Spanish, iZulu/isiXhosa (a South African language) and ... they are indeed getting quite popular and being praised via the power of the internet but have not reached to where there are supposed to get. at any rate, it's meaningless to brag about how phenomenal this group is to anyone who just starts to hear their music (covers and their own songs). instead if interested, using their ears to find out is more practical and enjoyable.

The past for Korean was always 7,8, 10 etc. Just American groups was 3 or 4.

Please don't continue to insult them and identify them as a "K-pop band, it really makes me cringe as a Korean. There are a lot of talented performers in K-pop groups, but Forestella is totally different and I hate the generalization some westerners and foreigners label them. It makes me realize you haven't really done your research. 3 out of 4 are classically, and/or highly trained vocalists and they have mastered singing in numerous languages which there are NO examples of K-pop groups being able to achieve. They are a crossover group compromising of extremely talented vocalists, and not just a K-pop group full of marketing, visual assessments and makeovers, and glossing over some of the weaker and less talented members just to appease some crazy teenage fans.

Welcome to Forestella - They are a technically a Classical Crossover group. They were individual competitors on a survival elimination show called "Phantom Singer" whose goal was to create a crossover vocal quartet like II Divo. They compete 1 on 1, then the survivors move on to duos, then trios... and finally the Quartet. Mingyu (The first singer) won every round and that gave him the chance to recruit the others, specifically choosing voices that gave them variety and range. They are lightning in a bottle. The show has turned out several great quartets, but none have the widespread appeal of Forestella. If you are looking for a genre, you won't find one. Their motto is “Break the Genre”. They have done everything from their original K-pop song, "Kool", to their new rock waltz, "Snow Globe" (which seems to be a fanciful retelling of them coming together as a team). Left to right Woorim - Classically trained Basso Profundo Hyungho - Rock Countertenor (zero formal training until he joined the group) Mingyu - Leader and Classically trained Leggiero Tenor (he and Woorim went to the same school) Doohoon - Musical Theater Actor, Baritenor Each with a unique sound and the ability to blend together seamlessly.
