We finally give our Forester XT a proper lift, new wheels, and some off-road tires. The lift is from Subtle Solutions, at 1.5 inches it gives us plenty of clearance for the BF Goodrich Mud Terrain tires and the Method Race MR502 Wheels.

This is perfect, I like that you dont need to change fenders and bumpers and you got enough clearance for some normal offroading. For extreme you anyway need some vehicle with chassis.

Great series guys! Love it! Just like my red Forester XT. I've had several turbo charged cars in the past and the forester xt is by far the funnest due to it's higher clearance, spacious trunk, power and sleeper status. Keep 'em coming guys! Love the series!

Excellent build. I have an 04 XT and will look to do the same. Thank you for clarifying the trailing arm spacer situation as well. I am doing 1.5 inch strut spacers and didn't know whether to go with a 2 inch or 1 inch trailing arm kit. Just a couple questions here: Is the downpipe swap you did prior primarily responsible for the deep exhaust sound? Also, would you recommend the BF Goodrich tires for someone that wants A/T tire but primarily drives on highway (I want low noise and comfortability as much as possible)?
@rallysportdirect
@rallysportdirect 5 жыл бұрын
Awesome! I would probably go with the 2inch spacers, it should help keep the alignment perfect even when the suspension droops a bit. And the Downpipe certainly added to the sound for sure. The Tomei exhaust on the factory downpipe still sound amazing, but just not quite as good as this LOL. And for the tires, BFGoodrich can't be beat. For a daily I might go with the K02's as opposed to the KM's as they are more civil on the highway yet still incredibly capable off-road. Let us know if you have any other questions!! Thanks, Rick

@thespecter2 5 жыл бұрын
@@rallysportdirect Thank you for the reply. I'm looking to do the same size tires. I'm trying to calculate in my head why the TA offset would be greater than the lift though... Isn't the point of the TA spacer to center the wheels after elongating the strut space? How would a 2 inch TA spacer be better than a 1.5 inch TA spacer given that we are working with a 1.5 inch lift?
@subtle-solutions
@subtle-solutions 5 жыл бұрын
@@thespecter2 you should always match up your lift kit (strut) spacer size with the same size Trailing Arm (TA) spacer, unless you are running a larger than stock diameter tire or lift springs with your setup. In that case, like this Torquester project, you would want to run the 2" Trailing Arm spacer.

@rallysportdirect
@rallysportdirect 4 жыл бұрын
For the arm spacers you won't have to remove the strut, but I always find it's easiest to do with the struts off the car as you just have less weight on the assembly and less in your way, but honestly you can go about it either way. Thanks, Rick

Yes, we manufacture the front 1.5" and rear 1.5" strut spacers for this lift kit. I'm not sure why RallysportDirect does not have them listed on their website. They are one of our dealers. Yes, you would want to match the trailing arm spacers to the total lift that you are installing. Some people go with the 2" TA spacers if they are running a much larger than stock offroad tire for extra clearance, or if they have springs paired up with the lift kit.

Can you fit 215/75/15 with those wheels, but stock height? I plan on buying those Method Racing wheels +15, but I'm not lifting it. Stock struts.

You will need to unhook the sway bars to install the strut back into the shock tower. You are fighting the sway bar if you do not unhook them during the install.

The lift kit is a combination of 1" aluminum and 1/2" HDPE spacers added. The trailing arm spacers come in 1", 1.5", and 2.0" sizes. All of these products are available to order at: www.rallysportdirect.com Feel free to contact anyone in their support team for any other questions or order requests.
