As we wrap up the season, Nottingham Forest has announced a significant clearout of players whose contracts have expired or loans have concluded. Felipe, Cheikhou Kouyaté, Wayne Hennessey, and Harry Arter will all be leaving the club on a free transfer. Are you sad to see any of these players go?
In other news, we're thrilled to announce that Ola Aina has signed a contract extension, keeping him at the City Ground until 2025. His commitment to the team is a boost for next season after the full back had an impressive first year at the City Ground, with his versitilty to play on both the left and right back positions.
Additionally, our loan players Giovanni Reyna, Divock Origi, Nuno Tavares, Gonzalo Montiel, and Rodrigo Ribeiro will be departing the club as their loan agreements have concluded. We appreciate their efforts during their time with us and wish them success in their careers, but which player was you most dissapointed with this season.

I'm glad the clear out has begun because for 2 seasons now the club have failed to get numerous players to gel as a team and provide some consistency, which has shown with results and end of season finishes. As Cloughie would say 'the final table doesn't lie'.

AINA should be offered a longer contract than his one-year extension, I agree. Great of course that we have him next season, with Forest exercising the one-year extension option on his existing contract. BOLY extension is official too today. That's okay for another season.

We have 9 OTHER player who are still under contract (all for at least another year) but are out on loan, these include: O'Brien, Mangala, Shelvey, Dennis, Worrall, Richards.......sell some / all of these prior to June 31st and there is your PSR sorted. It would be madness to sell Murillo, MGW or Huson-Odoi (might make 10-20 million of profit but would have to spend more to get anything like same quality replacement)

Bang on. For starters, Brennan Fee is in the 2023-24 Accounts (70% of which was immediately spent on Sangare, admittedly) - if we could get £20m for Mangala and £20m for the others you mentioned, then that's £50m...could we sell Vlod to Olympiakos for £15m (!?!?!?). The whole PSR thing is a joke anyway.....am surprised that one club hadn't taken this to European Courts as being restraint of trade. PS I read that Shelvey had his contract cancelled with Forest, so he joined his Turkey club on a Free.

Notice the non-committal language in Forest's statement re: the loan players. Nothing is said about their their buy options. The statement merely says they, quote, "have reached the end of their loan spells on Trentside.". That doesn't preclude Forest might buy any of them.

Really pleased about Aina and Boly - worth noting that those forgotten men of Soh,Panzo and McKenna are also out of contract - and not coming back. With Felipe and Worrall going/gone and the horrible prospect of Murillo leaving, we MUST sign at least another Central Defender. Wonder what the future holds for Dennis and Bowler - If the conclusion is that Bowler isn't up to standard can we please sell him, not just loan out for a Third season ! I'd bring Dennis back in to the fold - he has pace. ANother No.9 is also a MUST - I'd consider a certain Brereton Diaz !

I like keeping Aina. Not really sad to see any of the others go. Acquire more wisely this year. Have accountants that pay attention and all should be well next season. The defense is solid, but they are asked to do too much. Control the ball 50% of the time and the number of goals given up will go down.

In regards to the City Ground, it's a no brainer to buy it for £10M, no matter what they do it's a great deal and whether we stay or go I feel it would be worth every penny as it saves us money on the rent anyway!

Next, Forest need to address the 'dead wood' players who are still under contract. I can think of 7 such players. Namely, Hwang, Panzo, Mighten, O'Brien, Bowler, Richards, and Dennis. Do they all get sold this summer? Are Omar Richards and Lewis O'Brien worth keeping for next season's squad? And what about Ateef Konate next season? He's now 23.

That's occurred to me too. With SO many players leaving / likely to leave, we need IMO a LB (RIchards !), 2 CBs, CM, WIde Player and 1 CF - that's 5,6,7 players - but I wonder what the budget will be !? PSR is a pain in the arse.

Yes Montiel was ok and seemed to improve but categorically not good enough to play in the premier league consistently. We no longer need loans unless absolutely critical. What’s the status with the academy? Surely the focus needs to shift here

When we signed him, he had achieved 2 successive Promotions with Cardiff, then Fulham. As an ambitious club, he seemed a sensible signing to me - the stupidity is/was offering a contract to him (or any player) that gives a pay rise and an extra year if the club goes up WITHOUT any need to play Any games to contribute to that achievement ! The millions we've wasted this past 7-8 years on Blackstock (offered/signed 3.5 year contract whilst not fully recovered from a year out - went on to play about 40 games more, only) - Zach CLough - 15 appearances in 4 years, and Arter. As for Arter - we should have played him in a few games (sub, last 10 mins when winning) - and when it became clear he was UNFIT, sue him for Breach of Contract !!
