This song so blows my fucking mind every time I hear it. I was the drummer for this band during my freshman year of high school, and I look back on that time in my life very fondly. The music, the brotherhood, the adventure... one of the best years I've had in my life. At the time, our music was everything to me. I was so proud to be a part of it, and that we were able to impact others. But.. to be honest.. listening to it all these years later... we sounded pretty awful lol. I mean, I love the songs, and I still love hearing them from time to time, but we were all really young and inexperienced, and had a super raw sound. My time-keeping was less than great, so I tend to cringe while listening. But it's still something I look back on with so much joy... I left the band after that year to focus on school and making it to graduation, and while I miss the lifestyle from time to time, it was the right move for me. But Joe... the sheer commitment and willpower of that dude... he kept pushing, kept writing, kept developing his craft.. even learned to play the guitar (yeah, he didn't even play when I was in the band)... he is and always will be the heart and soul of Forever Came Calling. And then... this absolute gem came out years later, and the first time I heard it, my jaw dropped. My soul swelled with so much emotion, the foremost of which was immense pride. The band had come light-years from where we were in high school. I honestly couldn't believe what I was hearing. SOOOOO FUCKING GOOD!! This is one of those songs in life that just fills me up, and makes me so grateful for the time I spent with Joe and Joel and Gabe and J-rah.
