There was a full time trading session that I attended with one of the local securities firms - I asked the presenter how much money I needed to be able to trade full time, and he said 50K. I did my sums just like you did, and reckoned that the returns on 50K is just not enough to feed me, let alone feed my family. Also wih so much at stake, my emotions will cloud my judgment. That was why I stuck on with my job and traded part time. No regrets and less stress - because I don't have to monitor the screen like a hawk as I have a more stable source of income

Favorited as I've done both to some degrees and always found reinjecting more capital from other jobs is the best way forward and eases the pain from being stopped out or taking small losses when a reinjection of funds just broke it even.

Hey Hey Rayner, I might be being a little thick but can you help me on this....if the price is lowest over 200 days surely you should long? Not short? If i did this on AUD/USD today I am trading on it going much lower which does not make sense. Help please.

One point: If you are going to trade the higher time frames, you should learn swing trading strategies instead of day trading. Also the indicators on the higher time frames are much more accurate so less risky.
