Halberd blades come in different varieties. It's a pretty straightforward and versatile weapon but mostly used in pike regiments.

I just love the mental image of Doug on the battlefield, having just dismounted and disemboweled his foe, immediately discarding his weapon and plunging both hands into his dying opponent's chest cavity to check if the wound was deep enough for testing purposes.

It was too small for the shaft he put it on. It also wouldn’t have bent as much if it were bigger so he could have put more of an edge on it, and it would fit the shaft better.

historic halberds weren't large, the soldiers who fought with them were strong AF from a life of manual labor and even they chose lighter weapons than what is shown here....also less pretty for the most part with langets attaching the heads to the shafts.

Forged in Fire is, above all, a family show. At least, that's what Doug Marcaida believes. You may recognize his catch phrase "it will kill." He utters this upon disemboweling test dummies. Pay attention though, because that's not actually what he says. At least, not anymore. What he actually says is "it will KEAL." This acronym, which Marcaida came up with himself, stands for "Keep Everyone Alive." Marcaida knows there are kids watching. He wants them to know that the violent weaponry they're being marketed actually saves lives. He's never explicitly stated any of this in the show, though. So all it really amounts to is little parrots running around spouting "it will kill!"

Just for information: the hallebarde is a Swiss invention, not german. First time the Swiss used it in battle was in 1315 against the Habsburg.
