In my expierience are forged frame feels more solid and has a few ounces of weight into it and that is confidence inspiring. IMO if paying a for a premium or semi-premium 1911 its gotta have a forged frame.

While Distinguished k Springfield's have forged slides and frames..I believe they have as long of min parts no??

Is there a way to tell forged or cast by looking? My old .45 has an Essex Vermont frame and a Springfield Illinois slide. It's been fired a lot and I am not the first owner. It's very reliable, the only problems I've had with it was with the cheap mag it came with. I got some Kimber's and nary a feed problem since, except the poor grouping. I'm soon trying a new barrel and link to try and fix that.

Essex is gtgo it out last most forge frams 100000 Rd plus man colt upper Essex fram u got a winner I put mine up against any forge and it's a winner

Did you ever heard about Imbel 1911 45 MD2 GC? They are really good made for the price.

Eh... Hundreds of thousands of S&W semi autos were made with cast frames and they have endured hundreds of thousands of rounds.. Good example of that is my S&W 5906 that has a cast frame and slide and has endured thousands of rounds. Same thing with my cast CZ-75. A cast frame and slide 1911 isnt a deal breaker for me another example of that is the excellent Bul Armory 1911s. Also casted Ruger SR 1911s are quite durable. As everything it boils down to manufacturing process. If done right cast steel pistols are 110% just as durable as forged pistols. I have seen casted frames that I didnt like. One comes to mind was a Kahr pistol I had which had some casted void marks in a thin part of the frame I didnt like at all and if you buy a forged frame gun more than likely you will not see any of those type of problems.

If castings are 110% durable then why are barrels forged?

@@charredskeleton Eh... not so much its simple really forged framed pistols are better and stronger usually but casted frames are just fine for firearms too. it all depends on the manufacturing process

Cast is as good if not better then forged they crack break I heard before I put a Essex good cast up against any forge frams 100000 rds plus gtg

Yeah, because clearly ALL those Caspian cast frames are cracking and wearing out. Yes, there can be voids in the cast, but there can be flaws in forged frames as well. I hear/read the same tired arguement about MIM parts. Competition shooters have been rocking Caspian cast frames for decades with no problems...and they have a lifetime guarantee. So I call bullshit on your "one box" comment. Unless you're using over-pressured ammo and running 60K rounds through your pistol, cast is just fine.

Exsey good frame s will.out last colt forge frams in some cases u see forage brake. Cast can easy go well over 100000 rds I'd u got a good one I got a 7790314 org air force national match harden upper the best colt ever made it's mitlary nam early 60s Springfield barrel match shoots rings around my newer match colts and u out the cast 70s frame up against most as well it racks a fly at 20 yrs its shooter cast is good the air force national match team used these slides camp David harden best colt slides ever made

You know one gun that can do what you said with +P... A Mark 23 with a plastic frame. They're rated for 60k+ +P rounds lol. The cast vs forged guys are tripping.

They dont make cast wrenches. Even the cheap wrenches are forged.

Show me a 1911 made of casting frame that failed the structure after 2000 round. Take RIA 1911.

Good cast is as god if not better then some forge look there's been lots forge frams breaking cracking on hot loads so I put my Essex colt upper up against any forge u got and for record some cast or even stronger than forge yes do math u can run 100000 rds on cast u get bad forge breaks look up the guns that suck made of forge. Not saying all forge or bad but do not nock a good casting it last as long as any forge colt frams even out last some wrong u or on cast it's good to go
